This is more than a call for “good” photography this is a call for the photography that makes your heartbeat. We don’t wanna see the work that got a million likes, we want to see the work that you spent nights obsessing over. We wanna see the work that lights the fire inside you, we wanna see the photographs that took your own breath away and took your practice to a new level. We wanna see the photographs that you couldn’t not create because they were inside you, you just didn’t know it until you let them out. We want to see the work that made you realize you were not just a photographer or a film maker, you were an artist.

Kinetic Obsession is a 7-day group exhibition taking place opening weekend for the @nova.twentyfour film and photography festival.

We invite artist to submit their photographs and short films. Please note the short films will be played in our “basement” cinema on a loop with other accepted short films. It has a punk rock feel. No work previously showcased at The Voyeur Bordello will be accepted.

Submission deadline: June 9th at midnight - Link to submit in bio. 10$ to submit
Show Dates: June 26th - July 1st

Announcing Our Next Call For Art: It’s a Dystopian World I Just Live Here

Some people like to say we’re living in an “information” age, but with this inundation of media and selective algorithms there is a profound sense of bleakness pervasive in our everyday. With wars raging, a genocide happening, AI datacenters taking our clean water, scientists going missing, and a “fearless leader” with an ego bigger than his ass it’s hard to look away, and when you do for your peace of mind it’s hard to not feel guilty. Over the past two years we’ve seen many artists channeling these emotions through their preferred mediums and so we wanted to make a call for art that allowed space for more than screaming into the void with your paint brush, your clay, your lens.

It’s a Dystopian World I Just Live Here is a one weekend group exhibition that invites artists to submit their conspiracy theories, their radical fears, their reality. We want to see the cryptids that keep you up at night, the angels you see falling from heaven, or the view from your bedroom window.

We welcome submissions in all mediums including painting, photography, sculpture, textile, video, installation, and mixed media. No work previously showcased at The Voyeur Bordello will be accepted.

Submission deadline: May 31st at midnight - Link to submit in bio. 10$ to submit
Show Dates: June 19th -21st
Submission does not guarantee entry.

The proceeds of which go into the kitty so that Nova Fest can keep doing what Nova fest does, changing the narrative around photographer’s and filmmaker’s in Detroit and highlighting the beautiful existing community!

Announcing opening night of a BIG ART Month we’re calling “On the Move” in which @thevoyeurbordello will be popping up all over the city! And we could not be more thrilled that Mary Najjar’s thought provoking exhibition “Wanderer” is kicking us off on our home ground!

“Wanderer” is a solo exhibition of the artworks of Mary Najjar, A Detroit-born painter and educator known for her bold, maximalist approach to art. She creates vibrant, statement-making works that celebrate color and texture.

Opening night Friday May 29th, 2026 from 6pm-9pm.

This exhibition is on display from May 29th - June 14th.

“My work exists in a space where the world collapses inward and reemerges as a maximalist explosion of color, texture, and form. Reality becomes heightened—almost
dreamlike—allowing imagination to take over. Layers build upon one another intuitively, creating compositions that feel abundant, immersive, and alive. Through this
visual density, I aim to create a world that feels rich with emotion rather than restraint.” - Mary Najjar.
