It is such a wonderful thing to be selected as the winner of the Art category for the Lensculture NEW VISIONS AWARD.
Like most of my work, this series is a painful reflection of my life. The work is difficult for me to look at, even now, but I also know it was necessary for me to make. That is was chosen makes me feel glad that I did. It was not lost on me that this win occurred during endometriosis awareness month.
So thank you @lensculture and the judges for considering my work for this award. Forever grateful.
Congratulations to all winners and finalists. I look forward to spending time with all of your winning series and discovering new stories and new understandings of the world we live in through your work
ARTIST STATEMENT:
This body of work is a personal story; a visual telling of the mental and physical impacts of living with chronic pelvic pain whilst dealing with medical misogyny, misinformation, and incompetence.
In a medical system where women’s pain is either dismissed or not taken seriously, I have had to learn how to advocate for myself and my needs. It is a constant battle and one that is proving very difficult to win. Sixteen years in limbo, a life stuck in a holding pattern of pain and loss with no end in sight.
There is only a thin membrane between what the world sees and the lived reality of my life. I may seem fine as I mask the pain, but if you excavate, even just a little, you will find it is all completely raw. I am lost in the ebb and flow of pain, of heartbreak and despair.
I am angry. I am difficult. I am defeated.

Repost from LensCulture:
Announcing 40 Winners — LensCulture Art Photography Awards 2024!
LensCulture’s yearly Art Photography Awards competition always attracts an abundance of creative submissions from artists living all over the world. This year, photographers from more than 130 countries participated with projects that were, at turns, visually delightful, intellectually stimulating, socially relevant and profoundly emotional.
After many hours of careful review and debate, the jury selected 40 winning entries from 19 countries on six continents. We hope you will take the time to find inspiration from each and every one of these new discoveries.
This year the winning works explore an amazing variety of themes and ideas: lucid dreams, morphing memories, creative counter-punches to artificial intelligence, neurodivergence, chance and serendipity in experimental work, magic realism, sexual motifs in folk culture, and so much more.
Enjoy! See all winners at LensCulture.com

It’s been a hugely busy and fulfilling week of travel across the earth with my best bud @lisamurrayphotos to present our portfolios at @fotofest
A big part of my practice has grown over this side of the planet and it’s been so rewarding to cement friendships that have begun through the awards & exhibition process here.
My body’s exhausted, my head’s full of inspiration and my heart’s full.
Thank you to the wonderful reviewers, the incredible artists and the team behind @fotofest. It’s been a treat.
A x

Our concertina zines have arrived, ready to take to Fotofest next week.
We (@arrayahloyndphotographer & @lisamurrayphotos ) are currently prepping for our trip to Houston for Fotofest 2026. We are booked in for Meeting Place, a series of portfolio reviews with curators from across USA and internationally.
We will also be taking part in the Unfiltered Portfolio Walk at the Hilton Houston Post Oak hotel, 14th March 7-9pm. The portfolio walk is open to the public so come along tosay hello, see our printed portfolios/work and maybe take home some art.
We have a week in Houston for Fotofest before heading to NYC for a week of art, food and lovely cold weather.
Thanks @press_print_solutions on an outstanding printing job.
(Apologies for having to repost again! - my IG keeps having a meltdown and is glitching the post in every possible way!)

Playing with some images I took during my week in hospital. I had a nice view of the city skyline and the sunsets were lush.

BOOK OF THE DAY ✨
Altered Landscapes (signed) by Arrayah Loynd
www.anzenbergergallery-bookshop.com
In ALTERED LANDSCAPES, Arrayah Loynd tells us about her heightened sensitivity of the nervous system, through which she perceives the world more intensely. Sounds, smells, light, touch, and tastes reach her in amplified ways - sometimes overwhelming and burdensome. At the same time, this particular sensitivity allows her to perceive details, colors, and moods that often remain hidden from others.

Looking back on this beautiful digital pre-press book by @arrayahloyndphotographer which received a highly commended acknowledgement at the 2024 Australian and New Zealand Photobook Awards.
"Altered Landscapes, a visual meditation.
I live with an increased sensitivity of the central nervous system. It affects me in ways that are hard to explain but can be quite debilitating and prevents me from fully participating in life. I find peace in solitude and nature: vast landscapes, cool climates, water, mountains, trees.
All of my senses are amplified. Sound, smell, sight, touch. This can be overwhelming at times but it also allows me to witness and experience so much that others miss. The colours and tones I see in the world are like a kaleidoscopic explosion within my mind. It brings me joy to immerse myself within it and is one of the few things that soothes my mind into a place of peace."
Arrayah is a lens based conceptual artist whose work explores themes of memory, trauma, the female experience, neurodivergence and the concept of otherness. Her work encompasses altered and expanded photography, archival imagery and mixed media. Born in the UK and raised in Australia, Arrayah works as a freelance artist and has taught photography at educational institutions within Australia specialising in concept development and fine art printing.
As always we'd like to thank @tallpoppypress for partnering wkth us this year and to MEL Photobook Fair @melphotobookfair for hosting the award announcements in March.

A few more from yesterday - WIP
The blurry images are made with my little plastic holga lens. I love how you have to let go of control and any desire for perfection when using it. It also ends up with lots of noise due to the very high ISO needed when shooting indoors.
