From my blog : This lack of visibility and representation has a real impact on black women artists. It can make it harder for them to get their work seen and sold, leading to a feeling of invisibility and isolation.
But black women artists are fighting back. They use their voices and art to tell their stories and create change. And we are making progress. With representation and the ability to be a part of our storytelling, the viewer can see us. No longer are we just the subject or the muse, but we are the creators.
By bringing visibility to black women artists and their work, we can create a more inclusive and diverse arts community. We can ensure that black women's voices are heard, and their narratives are told. And we can create a world where everyone can see themselves reflected in the arts.
There is still much work to be done, but the visibility and representation of black women in the arts are slowly but surely increasing. And that is something to celebrate. We work every day to be a part of that change we desire—the change we are demanding.
In my work, the viewer can see the beauty of blackness through the lens of a black woman. I am very intentional about what I create and how I create it.
I want my work to reflect the black experience's complexities and facets. I want my work to be a space where black women can see themselves reflected and celebrated.
I hope that, through my work, I can contribute to the visibility and representation of African American art . I want to create a more inclusive and diverse arts community. I want to ensure that Black artists' voices are heard, and their narratives are told. I want to create a world where everyone can see themselves reflected in the arts.

This is the first iteration of the Dollhouse Gallery, we will be creating some little bench and then eventually there will be real frames but the event I’m taking this to is on Sunday so we’re gonna work with what we have for now. I still have to cut a lot of of these in placement, but so excited.

I keep thinking about how rare it is now to truly sit with people.
To share a meal. To talk beyond captions. To let art breathe in the room with us.
So I’m inviting you into that kind of evening.
I’ll be the featured artist for a salon dinner in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. We’ll gather for food, conversation, and an intimate look into the work, the stories behind it, and the lives that shaped it.
Guests will also leave with a piece of original artwork from me.
Twenty seats. Five already gone.
Maybe this night is for you.
The link to the tickets to the dinner is in my bio. (Tickets are $108.55.)

I’m telling y’all it is my choosing to photograph my family. This is my aunt. My mother’s sister. She gonna mess around and we’re going to shoot for a whole exhibition this week. (we did this session on my back porch with a pop-up backdrop after our Mother’s Day brunch.)

So it is snail mail time. I made postcards then went through a whole bunch of Black galleries in the United States and thought I would introduce myself to them via a postcard. My list is at 31 for today. Next week I will send out some more. Also, I used some of my favorite stamps for this.

Good morning y’all,
I got my @guggfellows decision back today. I wasn’t selected. (This time)
Congrats to everyone who was selected this year. Well deserved!
Every time I apply to something, my work is being seen. They are sitting with it, reading my statements, possibly feeling where I’m coming from. For me that’s a major part of my artistic testimony.
This felt like an introduction. Me stepping into a room and saying, Hi my name is Takeisha and this is what I do. See ya again.
If I could offer encouragement to anyone today it would to apply for things you seek. This experience has been so sweet just a possibility of it all. Like literally I was in the numbers.
(the photograph you see is some of my recent works I’ve been studying surrealism)
