‘Praised by horror’s biggest filmmakers, including David F. Sandberg and Mick Garris, Outside Noise is the latest award-winning short from Terror Arcade, presented by CenterFrame. Directed by Ethan Evans and co-written by Evans and Jess Bartlett, it stars Bobby Rainsbury (Last Breath) and was executive produced by Jed Shepherd (Host) and Alex Noyer (Sound of Violence). Outside Noise had a successful festival circuit, from screening at the 68th BFI London Film Festival to being a finalist in Sony’s Future Filmmaker Awards, where it was endorsed by Jason Reitman, Minhal Baig and Justin Chadwick. The short has garnered high ratings on Letterboxd from festival audiences who described it as ‘a modern nightmare’ and ‘one of the creepiest shorts I’ve ever watched’. Made as a proof-of-concept, the short only scratches the surface of a terrifying, larger world.’ -Terror Arcade (2026).

Ethan is a writer/director who specialises in horror.

With a proven track-record in award-winning shorts, Ethan’s biggest successes are viral hit Time Out which gained over 100 million views online, and Outside Noise which premiered at the 68th BFI London Film Festival where it was featured in Directors Notes’ ‘Best of Fest’ list, and was shortlisted for Sony’s Future Filmmaker Awards 2025 (top 0.1% of submissions worldwide). 

From the strength of his shorts, Ethan was scouted to write/direct episodes of HBO Max series The Haunted Museum in 2021, as well as Urban Legend the following year.

Dubbed “the future of British Horror”, Ethan is now deep into development for his debut feature.

MEET THE JUDGES FOR OUR GENRE FILM-MAKERS OF THE FUTURE: SHORTS SHOWCASE!

Jess is an award-winning writer/producer from the UK. She has written and produced numerous award-winning shorts, including @bbcarts and ACE-funded projects.

Jess has written several TV episodes for HBO Max series Urban Legend and The Haunted Museum.

As a company director at @terrorarcade, Jess is in development for several projects, including their debut feature. Jess produced viral lockdown short Time Out, which gained over 100 million views online.

Most recently, she wrapped on her @bifa_film and BAFTA-qualifying proof-of-concept short film, Outside Noise, which won production funding from CenterFrame, screened at the 68th BFI London Film Festival, and was shortlisted for Sony’s Future Filmmaker Awards 2025.
