One of my favourite projects of 2023, Nike AirMax Day 2023 working with @spacebetween_ for Nike Sportswear & Supply Store editing 8 killer dj sets with custom visuals to celebrate 30 years of the AirMax. The final edits were part of an in store installation across 16 screens for AirMax Day.

Incredibly excited to share the Interactive audio-visual experience created for Ed Sheeran and his new album, Subtract in collaboration with Warner Music.

Getting to work with some old friends who are talented beyond measure, I’m incredibly proud of the outcome and how everyone’s skills came together beautifully for the final output. A big shout out to @cfinnproductions for asking me to be a part of this project.

This was the biggest project of 2025 for me. A huge global campaign for Peter Alexander’s Christmas Collection. Another collab with the golden crew at Paper Stone Scissors, this involved editing, animating and colour grading a range of retro shoots and social first content. Very proud of how this one turned out - hopefully some more large scale projects this year!

THE FUCKING MANIFESTO
——————————————
23. FUCKING SAY NO

They say you have two lives, and that the second one begins when we realise we only have one. For freelancing and running your own business, copy that quote but base it around saying no. When you start out, you’re gonna say yes to everything. We all did it. It’s a mixture of being terrified that you’ll never get another job again and disappointing your client.

But here’s the kicker. It will eventually happen that you will take on that low paying, not very exciting job and then you’ll get a request from that unicorn client with the perfect brief for you. And you won’t be able to take the project on. Heart breaking.

Ironically, saying no is sometimes the biggest thing to step things forward. Trust your gut. Be selective who you work with and the projects you take on. Especially if the job offered isn’t going to serve you financially or be something that will never see the light of day. Those projects will only make you hate what you do.

So start saying no. It get’s easier the more you do it. The more you say no, the more you understand your worth and what sort of project you should be saying yes to.

THE FUCKING MANIFESTO
——————————————
22. YOU NEED TO FUCKING EXIST ONLINE

This is one I struggle with. But like clockwork, whenever I stop posting online the amount of new projects I get in my inbox gets smaller. And the same is true when I consistently post online, I’ll get a booked out schedule.

For me, the key to posting online is to keep it easy and consistent. Hell, the fucking manifesto was a way of forcing me to keep my online presence more consistent. Whatever it is that you’re posting, it keeps you in the mind of all your clients. I’ve met some pretty cool people and got to work on some really cool projects because of the experiments I post online. Don’t ignore it. It’s easy to dismiss an online presence as some sort of vanity exercise, but it really is so much more. Keep it up. I guarantee you’ll see results from it. It might take a while, but it will eventually connect you with the people who will book you.

An overview of the fucking manifesto so far. Create. Not for clients. For yourself. Try new techniques, fuck up along the way and learn from it. Just keep creating.

THE FUCKING MANIFESTO
——————————————
21. BE A GOOD FUCKING PERSON

Gonna keep this one short. Whatever your disciple, this is a game of relationships. Don’t abuse that. Be honest about how long something will take, be honest about how much it will cost, and don’t screw over your client.

Always try to give other people the benefit of the doubt. Rude email? Maybe they’re having a really tough day. Finished a project a day early? Ask if there’s anything else they might need help with. Go out of your way to help those around you. Be kind. We’re all just trying our best.

THE FUCKING MANIFESTO

20. REMEMBER WHY YOU FUCKING GOT INTO THIS.

Recently, I’ve been burnt out. I worked 39 days in a row on some big campaigns. A recipe for disaster, right? And of course, I lost my spark for what I do. I’ve experienced it before, but not to this extent. After a lot of soul searching and time to recess things, I had a look at my upcoming manifesto posts and this one stuck out. So I took my own advice and looked back over my career progression over the last few years since living in Australia.

A lot has changed. All for the positive. Not without bumps in the road, but still a mind-blowing step up from my studio days. If I could talk to myself from 5 years ago, I wouldn’t believe the brands, studios and work I’ve been lucky enough to work on since going freelance. How my career has pivoted from my Graphic Design days to now working in Post production. It truely is beyond the dream I had for myself as a freelancer and the unfortunate thing is that it’s pretty easy to forget that after a really busy period. Things become normalised and you forget how far you’ve come.

So if you’re feeling a bit unmotivated or burnt out, look back to the moment you went out by yourself. Look at the journey it’s been to where you are now, and (hopefully) the steady progression of your career as a freelancer. Remind yourself of all the truly wonderful things about freelancing: autonomy over your time, over the work you do, of the future you can carve out for yourself. It’s something I needed to do recently, and it helped a lot. Always remember why you fucking got into this!

I’ve been seeing a hell of a lot of AI slop on here recently. Especially video content.

I’ve still yet to see a real, useable case for it. Even some pretty well established brands are using it, and it ain’t a good luck. It all feels a bit scammy and cheap.

So it got me thinking, can you actually use AI in your workflow to create something actually cool and useable on client work? I’m going to attempt to find out.

I’m excited to keep trying this to see where it goes. The takeaway from my first attempt at using it is definitely that it could be used as a cool element in a video. An element. Not just some fully generated scene, but an asset like how any other stock footage might be used in my workflow.

For this, I generated some runners on a green screen. Pretty underwhelming stuff, as you can see from the initial video it spat out. But, with a lot of experimentation, maybe you can create something cool with it? For me, I brought it into After Effects, rotoscoped the runners and added a stack of different effects. I treated it more like a stock video that is just used as the base for a visualiser. Would I use this for a client project? I reckon so, if it was just used as a base to add a lot of elements to. This video’s idea was a visualiser for Nike Running.

So yeah - less AI slop and hopefully some more actually interesting stuff that comes from creatives. Not tech bros who don’t know the first thing about , but experiments where actual artists add elements of it into their workflow. We’ll see. Stay tuned.

Oh, and wait til the end to see the initial AI generated video for reference.
