Tonight…. ‘Reconnect’ returns with @dindiepop 🗣️

From Jakarta, Dindie has been sharing her music findings since 2019 - exploring ambient, balearic, afrobeat, percussive and jungle. She also co-manages the music label 100.000 and its mix series.

“I often spend the afternoon with my cat on the rooftop. As the night unfolds, we heard adzan (call for prayer) from a nearby mosque and kids set off large firecrackers. I held my cat really close, my mind wandered to Palestine. I only hope I could hold my dearest ones as the world trembles down”.

Reconnect is a space where we invite selectors to delve into the thoughtful aspects of their sound. From ambient to electronica to reconnecting with heritage and exploring new identities, ‘Reconnect’ offers an hour of deep listening and reflection however the guest sees fit.

All funds raised from this event will be donated to a charity supporting the Palestinian people in their fight for sovereignty and land rights. This charity will be ascertained closer to the date of the event to ensure that the funds reach those who need them most.

We recognise that funds are not able to enter Gaza at the moment, and that fundraising is not enough. Attending our event is not a replacement for mobilisation and attending rallies (which occur every Sunday at the State Library - check out @freepalestinemelb). Our government is complicit and aiding war crimes being committed against Palestinians, we have direct power by coming together and standing up to end the occupation.

We pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which this event is being held, the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nations. Sovereignty has not been ceded, treaties have not been signed.

From here in so called australia to Palestine: Always was, always will be!

Our next ep of ‘Reconnect’ is tonight on @hkcronline with our guest @kiwed.xyz / @dewie.ang ✨

Kiwed is a storyteller that weaves narratives through her mixes. She explores organic and synthetic sound from near and far, pushing the boundaries of genre. Sometimes her mixes are deeply personal and, other times, the reaction to world tragedies.

“In this mix, I express my feeling of living in a hectic city that often feels like being caught in a whirlwind of endless activity. In these concrete jungles, where skyscrapers and light pollution dominate the skyline, there’s a year for a reconnection to my heritage. This mix serves as a bridge between the sound of urban and the age-old heritage that grounds me. It reminds me that even amidst the relentless pace of city life, I can find comfort in the euphonious blends of old and new sound”.
