The Government has launched its Schools White Paper, setting out plans for education reform in England, including a renewed commitment to a broad and balanced curriculum, stronger enrichment and a revitalised arts offer. One Dance UK welcomes the recognition that arts and physical education are essential to every child’s education, and that enrichment must sit alongside high-quality curriculum provision.

After years of decline in dance in schools, this is a pivotal moment. Dance supports physical health and mental wellbeing, while building confidence, creativity and resilience. We will continue to work with the Department for Education to ensure this ambition is matched by meaningful action and that dance is recognised as essential to a truly broad and balanced education.

In celebration of Tap Dance Day, we are excited to be sharing two brand new resources on Decolonising Tap Dance written by Hannah Ballard, Artistic Director of @sole_rebel_uk. The resources support dance educators working across the UK dance sector to work towards inclusive and culturally informed tap dance practice.

One Dance UK are delighted to provide a one-off grant of £350 and our Wellbeing Package to one individual of the Global Majority background living with a disability. This is part of our continued commitment to support access needs.

All eligible names will be entered into a digital randomiser. You do not have to be a member of One Dance UK to participate, though members will be given two entries. Entries Close: 19 May 2026, 12pm.
