“This is a story about self-isolation through reaction to trauma and what that can do to a person as well as their surrounding community. There are several flashback sequences throughout the film where the main character is recollecting her trauma. During these sequences, I wanted to utilize the more reactive coatings on the Silver Editions to catch veiling glare mixed with traditional lense flares coming through the windows of the main character’s cabin. This creates this stunning smearing effect that happens entirely in camera. To me this embodies the fuzziness that comes when trying to piece together traumatic events in your head. It all combines to create this very dreamy, but somehow still very grounded image. Outside of this specific effect we were going for, the enhanced focus fall off that has been engineered into this set vs the base Orion set is really pleasing. It was a noticeable difference too in my testing. It rolls off much more gradually than the base set of orions. We approached a lot of the flashbacks with a handheld camera and had many takes where we wanted to go from a medium wide to an extreme close up. The close focus of these lenses helped greatly for us to accomplish that without the need for a diopter or cut while we were losing the light. I have struggled over the years finding anamorphics that hold lots of character, but not to the point of the image falling completely apart. I never even really knew what I wanted exactly until I saw it. And I really see it in the Silver Editions specifically. I’ll definitely be reaching for these lenses for years to come.” - @kyledeitz

NJ LOTTERY “Peak Form”
Possibly the first serialized commercial I’ve done. A few years ago @mattpittroff and I got to make another goofy spot about the NJ Greenball holding a press conference (at the Mahwah SheratonAKA the Nakatumi plaza knockoff that just got blown up last week) that he was coming out of retirement. Well, here he is training to become peak physical ball form. As always, an absolute blast with @workingstiff_films

THE SCHOOL DUEL
In this dystopian thriller set in near-future Florida, Sammy, a tormented 13 year old, is recruited to participate in a deadly, statewide competition known as “The School Duel.” The contested event is the government’s solution to curbing school shootings in the wake of gun control being abolished.
This was my first feature as a DP and I’m mega proud of the entire team for getting this across the finish line. Hopefully next stop is distribution!
