4 Years! Faith & Works. Sitting in sooo much gratitude: for the yes’s, the opportunities, the lessons (still learning), the belief from others, the growth, the journey. The people and the places that mark you. Not just a “Freelancer”… now embracing the title “Business Owner” (big thanks to @nickmarsella for the push 😘). Hungry, always humbled, thrilled to be a part of so much meaningful work as a creative entrepreneur.

Impossible to name all favs, but some stand out projects:

1. Telling the story of a new church plant in Paris’ 5th arrondissement for @orchardgroup (assisting the wizard @paoloethugo)

2. Web Revamp for @streams.studio (@davidlochhead_ @jaden.neufeld)

3. Running up some trails for @swiftwicksocks (killer job by the team at @astronautmonastery @codymin; @markdchou , @hi_katienguyen @ipaustephen)

4. Witnessing the innovation and groundbreaking work of @banditrunning — design support during winter-summer 2023 campaigns

5. Documenting the brilliance of @rachelsnyderhospitality — hospitality with intention

6. ALI’s Leadership Summit in Egypt (led by @missionalfrog), where my love for photojournalism was really born. I love working/playing with @cve.nyc @cve.productions all over the world.

7. Prop stylist for @lacroixwater
8. Talent Escort for James Taylor

9. On the ground with @projectceti on the island of Dominica, putting on a conference for scientists and academia researching sperm whale communication

10. Three years of Main Stage @advertisingweek PA-ing

11. Dancing for Johnson & Johnson with @jonathanmflores

12. Creative for the founders, builders, doers of @missionallabs (@tylerprieb @stevemulder @missionalfrog @cve.productions) + the @praxis_hq global network (my first NYC client! All thanks to @meghaneeasley)

13. Dallas for the @waterisbasic Gala (@michaelguaglione)

BOSTON: ALL JOY & MIRACLES. OVERCOME BY ALL THE LOVE & SUPPORT & PRAYERS. 5/6 (7?) @wmmajors.

A dream 4 years in the making, but the TRUE dream was having so much of my home team out for this one — was floating off of all of their love (from those near, and afar!!!) Made it 10000x more rich; one of the most tangible ways people have ever shown up for me. PURELY a community experience. I’m the luckiest to have friends like this to run through life with.

My slowest race to date but didn’t care one bit!!! Just gave me more time to pray for people I love. Given was unsure if I’d be able to run a week ago (let alone finish) due to a knee injury, God hears our prayers. Had never felt more covered for this than with anything else in life

⬆️ Throwing it back to where it started — NYCM 2021 — here’s who I was running for (so many reasons), thinking of, and praying for in every mile:

3️⃣0️⃣! Still in a love coma!!! Overcome from this wildly special night, and all the meaning in this room. All that I feel is completely the love of Jesus: from Him, and through others. So much so, that it just makes me want to overflow that kind of love onto everyone else. I think that is the whole point

In loving memory of my Gramma, Takeko Yamane, who passed away two days ago. It was a Tuesday. 98 whole years of a full, beautiful life. She is no longer in pain and now joins her husband, Teiichi, and seven siblings in heaven.

Kauai holds deep significance in my family’s story, and my gramma was at its center. Every Christmas I can remember, we gathered at her home — our matriarch, our living link to a past shaped by being third-generation Japanese-Hawaiian. I’m the youngest of the cousins, and she was my last living grandparent, anchored by her four daughters.

In 2021, I brought my camera with me (clear by the outdated editing) and, for reasons unknown, felt compelled to photograph a few ordinary moments, sensing they might one day matter. I documented every corner of my gramma’s house — the same house my mom was raised in, and the place where we now gather — filled with objects that may seem unremarkable to most, but are artifacts of a lifetime. Ripe papayas from the farmers market. Apple bananas waiting to be grabbed by a grandchild’s hands. Her muumuus hanging on the line to dry: it’s laundry day. On her vanity sits a portrait of my grandfather, whom I never had the chance to know; he passed away before I was born.

My memories of my gramma are rooted in the beauty of the everyday. I wake up and she’s already in her chair, reading the paper. She quilts while watching “Jeopardy!”, focused yet calling out the answers — love woven into every stitch. She makes bouquets from flowers in her yard for fallen relatives in Hanapēpē. On New Year’s Day, she makes ozoni, our “good luck soup.” Her playing ukulele. Endless meals and laughter, she’s often smiling quietly from the corner, happy simply to be surrounded.

The recent years were harder to witness: the slow decline, the heartbreak of her no longer living independently in the home she loved, her memory fading. I’m deeply grateful that @lindsaytakeko and I were able to say our final goodbye together the day before we left on our most recent visit.

In holding onto these images, I’m holding onto her.

A hui hou — “until we meet again”. Last photo my cousin @ty.frey.film @tea_why took years ago that I love.

Meet my Chelsea Airbnb host, Graham — from a solo trip to London to race the marathon, on a crisp day in October, 2022. Still a few of my favourite film portraits to date.. We chatted over tea for 5 hours about British inflation, the legacy of the Queen, his flat in the south of France, showing me hundreds of film of his own from his 20 years as a photojournalist in Southeast Asia. He even let me leaf through his private, wonderfully irreverent and *slightly risqué* travel journal when I asked.

Proof travel is beautiful and works like this: always pause for tea, likely you’ll gain a Graham. Also his living room centerpiece Klimt makes me swoon!

@tcsamsterdammarathon MADE BETTER TOGETHER. 🤝 Top highlight was running side by side with @ben_siekmeier @quinndavis_5 for the first 15mi (who smashed their PR’s)

I’ve done a handful of these international races completely solo over the years, but this time I brought in some friends — and it changes everything!!! Having people who rally around an idea, say yes to adventure, and explore a new city together is unmatched. Running through life (and new places) with these humans is the best reminder that running is deeply communal.

Shoutout to @ale_siekmeier who crushed her own 7.5K!!! And @serenatuomi @erinvandertie @maggiedholt for PR’s of their own (with Lady Lib hats and all)

Personal race recap: strong-paced 15, bonk at 16, mind-palace-pain-cave 16-26. 🥴 Note to self — two races back to back less than six months apart, on just 2.5 months of training, with some injury recovery, might be too much for the body. Or am I just turning old and slow?
