Decided to share a snapshot of my career journey so far. It’s been a mix of continuously pushing beyond my comfort zone, steep learning curves, and a lot of coffee. Proud to work with my awesome colleagues and clients @thestrengthguys and looking forward to the future.

Designing tools to help elevate athlete and organization performance has been a deep passion of mine since I started @thestrengthguys in 2012. My journey in sports science has led me from powerlifting, into the strength & conditioning and performance testing processes supporting NFL, NHL and UFC athletes, into the COVID bubble with the Calgary Flames during the 2021 season, and then back to powerlifting. It has been a labour of love which continues to power my work today. Swipe right to learn more about the various projects I’ve worked on over the past 13 years. #TheStrengthGuys #BlueTakeover

RPE or kilograms? Percentages or feel? Jason Tremblay breaks down how he actually prescribes training — and why he thinks RPE often makes things more complicated than they need to be.

This is a clip from Episode 1 of Iron Minds, my new podcast where I sit down with powerlifting coaches to talk about what actually goes into building elite athletes.

Full episode out now — link in bio.

What do you prefer — RPE or percentages? Drop it in the comments.

Getting stronger is only part of the equation, albeit a big one.

Your performance may be improving… but other tissues and systems in different regions of your body may not share the same response.

That’s where many lifters and coaches get it wrong.
A one dimensional view of training where progress goes up — until something breaks down.

Strength is a long game which is played on biology’s time.

Make efforts to respect the adaptation speed of your body with regeneration after intense demands, movement variability when it is not as necessary to be specific, graded progression of training over time, identifying and using different effective dosages depending on the goals, programming deloads consistently, and employing a periodized approach into your training to reduce injury risk and improve your performance over the long term.

My awesome team at @thestrengthguys
@jasontsg and @juliannaking_ are coaching me. They make a personalised program for me and are evaluating how things are going and working. They listen to how I feel and adjust the program to find out what works best. They did endless rehabilitation program so I could train and helped me heal from my injuries. They are wonderful to work with.
My nutritionist @jaynekate_ guides me with nutrition and helps me to be right balance to keep up my energy.

I’ve been working for over a year now on our new athlete management system. My goal has been to build the fastest, most organized, and simplest to use training system with data for coaches, which provides the best experience possible within Google Sheets for athletes.

To achieve this I’ve re-imagined and re-engineered how coaches work with the help of a team of talented developers and designers @giulianodontario, @jon_yekar_en and @jandrofenik.

Here is a look at the new athlete monitoring section, which I’m quite pleased with!

- News ticker automatically reports injury events, meaningful changes in soreness and readiness, e1RM drops and PR’s each week
- 14 day analysis of readiness, soreness, sessional difficulty, pain ratings and pain location
- All time injury history record
- Coaches can sort 4 years of data through main lift or main lift + variation.
- Volume metrics show prescribed vs performed.
- Intensity metrics show peak & weighted average
- Fractional sets per muscle group on the primary movers for each lift can be viewed to the right (Slide 2)

I’ll share more about the updates to the long term planner, training template and athlete file in the coming weeks. I’ll be testing this with a few of my clients starting at the end of this week, and we’ll be rolling this out company-wide in the coming months as athletes finish training in their current yearly files. @thestrengthguys
