“My original concept for Comedown was to try and capture the essence of a psychedelic journey in words, taking the listener on a trip, starting with the rise, over the peak, and back down again. But as time passed, its meaning deepened, my interpretation of it shifting as many psychedelic intentions do. By the time I recorded it, years after it was written, I was seven months pregnant, and I realized this song wasn’t about altered states, it was about life itself. (Which I think is why psychedelic journeys are so transformative, because they are able to encapsulate the meaning of life into micro-experiences, forever changing the journey-er.)

Comedown is more than the low after a high; it’s the realization that we are part of something so much bigger than we could ever imagine. It’s the aching beauty of impermanence, the experiences that break us open, the quiet spaces where we grieve, the release of control.This pain allows us to feel what a true gift it is to be alive. But most importantly, Comedown is about embracing the unknown of what’s beyond this life.

It feels fitting to release Comedown on my daughter’s second birthday, and my re-birth day, the day I became a mother. She was in my womb when we recorded it, and in many ways, she is the embodiment of this song; birth, transformation, the full cycle of life unfolding. My hope is that even in our darkest times we can find gratitude in the moments that make us feel most alive.” - Alexa Jesse @alexajesse

Nick's vision for our new track, Impossible Goodbyes, became clear after listening to the demo on the drive back into SF from Oakland. The city lights dancing between the parallax of overlapping skyscrapers felt perfectly matched to analog instrumentation weaving through a syncopated house beat. A quick cell phone clip became the blueprint for a dedicated video shoot, and a full length music video we can't wait to show you soon. For now you can enjoy this visual whenever playing the track full screen on Spotify.
