The opening phrase already tells you what kind of piece this is: spacious, transparent, and quietly fearless.

Aaron Copland composed his Clarinet Concerto (1947–48) for Benny Goodman – a work that moves from lyrical stillness into a later surge of rhythm and jazz-inflected energy.

In the ARD International Music Competition 2025 final, @elad_navon performed Copland’s Clarinet Concerto with the @brsorchestra under @sashascolnikbrower and went on to win First Prize, plus multiple special prizes.

Israeli clarinetist @elad_navon (born 2000 in Jerusalem) wins First Prize, the Audience Prize and the Special Prize for Best Interpretation of the Commissioned Work in the clarinet category at the 74th International ARD Music Competition.

Trained in Jerusalem and Los Angeles, currently studying at the Colburn Conservatory with Yehuda Gilad, Elad Navon already performs with leading orchestras worldwide.

I am extremely honored and excited to share that I have won the 1st prize, the audience prize and the prize for the commissioned composition at the ARD competition in Munich!
It is absolutely a dream coming true, and it was such a privilege participating in this event, performing with the @mko_muenchen and the @brsorchestra, and meeting amazing clarinetists from all around the world.

I want to deeply thank my teachers Yehuda Gilad, Tibi Cziger, Ilya Shwarts, and all my mentors who helped shaping my journey. I would also like to thank my family and friends - reading your messages and feeling your support really pushed me to do my best.

A huge thank you to my brother @itainavon who not only played with me in the first rounds, but stayed to the semi-finals and the finals as well. He was there to listen, support and give his advice on and off the stage, and this achievement would not have been possible if not for him.

Last but not least, I want to thank @genuinclassics @marillon_design_for_musicians @henleverlag and @gewa.bags.cases for the special prizes - some very exciting things are coming! can't wait! 🤩
