Hi everyone, I am crowdfunding for my next short film 'Don't Interrupt While We Dance'.

Our stories do reach several screens now, but often reduce queerness to a spectacle, and queer people to passive protagonists instead of agents of their own liberation. It is imperative there be stories where trans individuals are seen as vivid and multifaceted individuals who deserve mundanity and whose anger is reasonable. Thus, through this ensemble of characters, I attempt to paint a landscape of multiplicity, where anger is not always respectable, never allowed. We wouldn't be here without the bricks.

Anger held hostage. Such a primal emotion like anger must be allowed to exist in the hands of trans people if we are ever to realize their full personhood.

I am crowdfunding because I have run out of patience with the world. Yes it is radical, and I can't wait no longer for neo-liberalism to pave the way for our liberation, on and off screen.

hello lovelies!

i present to you my second short film, 'Oranges in the Winter Sun', it's a film full of love and experiments.

our first ever screening is on the 30th of October in Delhi at the lovely film festival organized by @theparticlecollective .

‘Oranges in the Winter Sun’ is about the entanglements between memory and letting go. Told as a retelling, it is about two people finding space for their love in the cramped corners of the world. It is about a camera, with only twelve films - hence beckoning the photographer to decide what to leave inside and outside of a frame. It looks at the city of New Delhi through a queer lens.

Further, the subjects of the film are not gazed at, or spectated, instead they gaze upon themselves and each other. The heterosexual norm is not allowed to be an active participant in the falling in and out of love that happens between them.

Not only did I get goosebumps the first time I saw this music video for the song by written by @alooreet and @geetanjalikalta I also cried. It did what it wanted to, it showed me the love and sheer will of our community in light of this abomination of a Protection Act.

Thoughts on spaces. A space is a gap between two words. A word before makes some sense. The word after put together makes new sense. Anyway. Making spaces is messy, as all experiments are. I operate in cinema, and there is no revolutionary road through cinema. There are happen-stances. And then you get congratulated in the end for being brave. Ofcourse, independent films, truly independent ones are hard to make, and then they are thesis, they are case-studies for how what happened. And on the outside, it reveals itself like a good story, through downs and more downs and ups, and the glimmering 4k glow of many mistakes and a few dreams. On the inside, it's a mess, the order is a work in progress, there is no tried and tested method, and then everything is a trial. WIP WIP WIP. The best way to do things would be this, first to write something uncontroversial. Second, to hire your team of 9 big men who know cinema like a birthright. Third would be to hand over it to a table of manicured women, and fermented queers, and well meaning men.
The comfort of it is - it works like a charm every time. Time is saved and no battles are fought. Alas, I am an idiot.

And then I end up in a stupid mess of desires and dreams, of spaces which may hold you. All my life, I've loved the idea of a room full of people - all I've ever desired is a room full of people, laughing. Forbidden Verses was that, and this film and that party and that event. And I can't seem to escape the loneliness of my childhood, so I may call this radical work. And I may drag my friend down this treacherous road with no escape. But I am hollowed by the congratulations of soft queers who sit and watch the world catch flames. I am weighed down by the heavy voices of the performative men. And this community thing is that as well. And this and that and that and this. And they arrive when the space is ready to stand on. And to be a part of the experiments that have already suceeded. I would be like to let in on their experiments. Anyway maybe my father was write. Cinema is not it. Maybe I should write a family drama PG 13.
