Thrilled to share that BIRDIE, a short film by @praise_odg, is headed to the 2026 #SundanceFilmFestival as part of the Short Film Program.

BIRDIE is a coming-of-age film about a 16-year-old Nigerian refugee in 1970s Virginia trying to keep her family together. It’s a timely story, and I’m so proud to have been a part of bringing it to life.

“The Incredible Sensational Fiancée of Sèyí Àjàyí” AKA @theincredible.shortfilm is a captivating and empowering 18-minute dramedy short film. Serving as proof-of-concept for a TV series, this filmseamlessly blends elements of African and diasporan cultures to create a reimagined pan-African society, that dazzles and inspires with its voice-over narration style inspired by the griot (West African) storytelling tradition. “The Incredible” has the visual design of “The Grand Budapest Hotel” (Wes Anderson), the tonality of “Mother of Georgee” (Andrew Dosunmu), the nostalgic whimsicality of “The Marvelous Mrs Maisel” (Amazon) and the powerful and positive African story telling of “Coming to America” (John Landis). 🍿

The FUTURE is FEMALE 🤎

Synopsis | A therapist suggests an app to two of her patients who are Black children. One is Trans/non-binary and the other is a Cisgender femme. The app is a ploy to conduct a study without the consent of the parents nor the children. Disguised as a self- help resource for the children/patients, whose parents are already there as a last resort, signing up for a practice that culturally and historically they are unfamiliar with. The conclusion, that the internet and white supremacist delusion can work hand in hand with the destruction of the Black body. Producing body dysmorphia and encouraging unhealthy patterns that harm our physical, mental and spiritual wellness.
