EXHIBITION | Good fortune to a flame: Aldo Iacobelli, Bill Hawkins, Elizabeth Pulie | curated by Mitch Cairns

To coincide with his 20-year survey exhibition, Mitch Cairns: Artist's Mouth at the National Art School Gallery, The Commercial invited Mitch Cairns to curate an exhibition of fellow artists. Good fortune to a flame is an exhibition of work by Aldo Iacobelli, Bill Hawkins and Elizabeth Pulie.

"Good fortune to a flame is an exhibition about ‘the painter’s reach’, a discursive model of painting that is dependent upon a type of visual literacy informed by the levelling of historical painterly approaches. [...] ‘The Painter’s Reach’ was the title of Robert MacPherson’s 2015 retrospective exhibition held at QAGOMA, Brisbane/Meanjin." —Mitch Cairns

Yasmin Smith: Elemental Life | Museum of Contemporary Art Australia | until 07.06.26

Yasmin Smith: Elemental Life is the artist’s most significant solo museum exhibition to date. It features five ambitious ceramic installations in which glazes articulate forms of ecological intelligence across human, geological and cosmological timescales.

Matthew Harris and Augusta Vinall Richardson are exhibiting in New South Vol. 2: Recent Sculpture & Installation Art, curated by Dr Victoria Wynne-Jones, at Hazelhurst Arts Centre. The exhibition "presents recent examples of sculpture and installation art from across Southern Australasia. Bringing together an intergenerational group of 17 artists, the exhibition offers a snapshot of current sculptural practice and the ideas shaping it today."

Jazz Money and Matthew Harris in the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art

Jazz Money and Matthew Harris have been invited by curator Catherine Nichols to exhibit in the 18th Lyon Biennale in September this year. The exhibition will take the centuries-old traboules (hidden pedestrian walkways) of the centuries old French city as the starting point. "These emblematic passageways of Lyon, situated between public and private spaces, tell a story that blends work, struggle, and urban transformation."
