Synapse is a Virtual Production one-stop partner comprised of filmmakers and award-winning industry leaders.
Synapse Virtual Production is pleased to announce the opening of its flagship LED Stage @lacenterstudios 150’ x 120’ Stage 4. The volume is 60’ wide, 22’ tall and 35’ deep with 2 large LED Wild Walls for additional interactive off-camera lighting, or to extend the volume’s side walls, allowing even more camera move options.
Utilizing @aoto_led 2.3mm pixel-pitch LED panels with 170-degree off-axis viewing capability and @bromptontech SX40 video processors and @stypetv tracking systems, Synapse’s unique design/shape incorporates a matching full-resolution 2.3mm seamless ceiling that perfectly marries to the Volume’s main wall with no tracking cameras, gaps or other obstructions to be painted out.This truly represents “final pixel” in-camera visual effects (ICVFX) captured live on set.
The Volume’s physical placement on the stage permits tracked cameras to shoot the full 60’ width of the volume from up to 100’ away. This allows for unmatched extreme wide shots to be captured with maximized practical set depth, or to shoot scenes with large cranes and high angles of up to 35’. The volume’s LED panels are also only an inch off the stage floor, allowing for easy set-dressing integration without having to bring in cumbersome customized steel deck platforms… Car shoots can literally drive into shot on a freshly installed polished dark epoxy floor. Having an epoxy floor added to the volume allows for the in-camera capture of practical reflections of assets being displayed on the LEDs that interact dynamically with the polished floor.
Locating Synapse flagship studio on LA Center’s downtown-adjacent campus brings with it all of the conveniences of a major studio lot: offering multiple modern soundstages, a standing office tower building (which houses many preexisting sets as utilized on shows like Mad Men, as well as additional production office space), established studio infrastructure amenities and an exterior backlot with downtown LA as its sweeping background.

Excited to share this short film and trailer for the latest installment of the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil: Requiem.
Directed by Rich Lee (@hypothetical_monkey), the viral short is titled Evil Has Always Had A Name.
Starring (Mother) @maikamonroe and (Daughter) @olivia.aray, it follows a young family fighting to survive the chaos of the game’s ground zero outbreak in Raccoon City.
Shot in Mexico City last fall, this project combined practical locations, set builds, and virtual production. Environments were created by @synapse_vp and captured on stage at @simplementemx in historic Churubusco Studios @est_churubusco.
This is the first time we’re sharing the trailer on our channels, and we’ll have more content to share soon.
