Honey Balm is a healers-for-healers evening of reciprocity & collective care, held by the vision & generosity we all bring to the circle. This is a potluck gathering inspired by the honeybee & the acronym BALM: Belonging, Access, Listening, and Medicine.

Together we will co-create sacred space through altar building, an opening prayer & meditation honoring the four directions, & explore the wisdom of circles to nurture & support both personal & collective capacity to resolve & envision.

This healing justice based container will be guided by @remember_thisfeeling , @jxsmineayala & @vwhitehawk.

Please feel free to bring a personal sacred item or earth offering (flowers, crystals, feathers, shells, etc.) to add to our collective altar.

Naomi Stewart is the curatorial mind behind ‘sacred’, an exhibition that centers Black art, joy, and healing in a world that devalues these contributions. Naomi’s intention and care is evident in the authentic relationships built with the exhibiting artists, selection of works, and deep connection to the spiritual work at play in the exhibition. (@naomithewanderess)

Connect with Naomi tonight at the Closing Reception of ‘sacred’ at 7PM.

For purchase inquiries of works in ‘sacred’, email sales@sovern.la or check out our Artsy page.

Don’t miss your last chance to check out Dellis’ work at the closing reception of ‘sacred’ @sovern.la this Thursday May 7th at 7PM.

We were honored to have exhibiting artist Dellis Frank (@dellisfrank_theartist) break down her piece, “Be Amended”. Dellis explores the history of The Three-Fifths Compromise which tried to diminish Black people to subhuman. This multimedia piece rejects this idea by celebrating blackness with images of Black Lives Matters protest, excerpts from The Constitution, and news headlines from NFL controversies of players taking a knee during the National Anthem. Dellis’ works remind us of our wholeness and sacredness.

(Work Pictured)
Be Amended (2019)
Acrylic on canvas, repurposed items, fiber, paper collage, resin
40 x 30 inches
$5,000

For purchase inquiries, email: sales@sovern.la or check out our Artsy page.
