Family!! I’m vv excited to let you all know that after a pretty long break, @bebopporu is back on the dancefloor next Saturday night (6.6) @dangerdangerbar in Bushwick & i’m equally just as excited to welcome @sonido.ines as my special guest!
Inés is a Chicago based DJ, record collector, party organizer & visual artist who’s also a significant player in the city’s underground, throwing the well-loved party Work Ethic. Mentorship from the likes of Darryn Jones & Mark Grusane have helped develop her ear for the weirder corners of dance music; with crates full of deep disco, low-down funk, dancefloor jazz & left-field house, Inés has become known in Chicago & abroad as a talented selector of music at the margins.
She also recently completed a collaborative project with Stacey Collins to unearth Ron Hardy’s final marathon set in 1987 from a collection of tapes stashed away in Stacey’s garage. The tapes were converted to digital and together with @there_is_no_planet_earth, Hardy’s set was uploaded to Soundcloud for all of us to hear. If you haven’t heard it yet, i highly suggest you do. It’s Heart Attack Hardy like you never heard him before.
It’s that level of genuine care of the culture, attention to detail & willingness to dig deep that has me really excited to rock alongside Inés all night strong 💪🏽
1st record @ 10pm 🎯
Free all night to get in & get down
Special thanks to @mao_orsini for the artwork & @mmesseck for the photo in the last slide.
See you on the floor?

Back in Brooklyn for a week... Playing a couple two tree things in the area while I'm out. Always a wonderful time catching up with old friends and meeting new ones 😀 Holler at me!!
Hmmm I would like to sincerely thank anyone who attended my birthday party at the esteemed podlasie club last evening. It was a super fun packed night . I received several packs of cigarettes which was a touching detail. I played many of my favorite songs, most of which were very strange and unusual.🧐 Everyone seemed to enjoy how strange and unusual my songs were. 🥰👍 This is ideal for me because I am happiest when I am playing strange and unusual music. ☺️Thank you to my community of strange gay hipsters who like to get down freaky deaky style 😃 and thank you to Marc and Henry for playing and also my coworkers . Peace and love🕊️🕊️

🚨🚨 A World Premiere presented by TINPE & Inès: Ron Hardy “Goin Down Slow”
A recently digitized and previously unreleased online cassette tape of Ron Hardy performing a rare slow steppers-style session during his final Marathon set at COD’s, Chicago, 1987 🚨🚨
On December 31st, 1986, a New Year’s Party was in full swing at the legendary Music Box, an underground club owned by Robert Williams, with revolutionary resident DJ Ron Hardy. By the next day, it was shut down by the city. The club would never reopen.
The Music Box and Hardy’s massively influential marathon sets there have gone on to shape Chicago and the world, even if people don’t know it. The closure of that space, and Ron’s passing five years later remain an enormous point of grief for that generation of Chicagoans. I have spoken at length with many attendees of those parties and one thing is clear - the memories of those nights are as fresh today as they were in the 80s. That place was their whole life. He was like family to them.
So when my friend and previous employee of the Music Box, Stacey Collins, called me to tell me she had found a box of Hardy tapes, I freaked out. We set out about digitizing them with archivist Jacob Arnold. In that set of tapes, one stood out in particular: “Goin Down Slow; Hardy’s Last Marathon ‘87”. This was a recording of that last party, after it was shut down by the cops and had to move to a new venue up north. It’s abnormally slow for Hardy, who was known for playing so aggressively that attendees began to shout for him to “beat” them with sound - he opts here for slow jams, or as they’re called in Chicago, “stepper’s cuts” (“Stepping” is a social dance culture originating in Chicago’s South Side). This side of Hardy is one attendees often speak of, his softer, sweeter side - but there’s not many recordings of it. I’m pleased to present this look into Hardy and the last moments of the Music Box with the help of There Is No Planet Earth. Peace and love - Inés @sonido.ines

Hmmmm it is my birthday today I am 26 years old I am very grateful for another year of life on God's green earth I am also grateful for music and records... I will be playing some of my favorite music/records this Friday at @podlasieclub . This is my unofficial birthday party to which you are all invited. I will most likely bring cake, but there will definitely be good music 👍

Inés (@sonido.ines) is a Chicago based DJ, record collector, party organizer, and visual artist. She is a significant player in the city’s underground, throwing the well-loved party Work Ethic. Mentorship from the likes of Darryn Jones and Mark Grusane have helped develop her ear for the weirder corners of dance music; with crates full of deep disco, low-down funk, dancefloor jazz and left-field house, Inés has become known in Chicago and abroad as a talented selector of music at the margins.
Don’t miss her SIREN / Detroit debut with @angelabaskets and @sav_g_ 🧚♀️
