Hey y’all it’s been a minute. I have never really been the kind of person to speak publicly about what’s going on in my life but I guess it’s time.
In December 2025 after a very unfortunate event I made the decision to resign from my position at Spot Lite. I truly believed in that place (and still do, if the right changes are made) and the people I was working for. So much, that I started to consider them family. Some people just aren’t meant to work together forever, ya know? So when I resigned I thought I would still be able to continue my work there as an artist, but I was quickly banned and not allowed to even attend my residency gigs. Shortly after, OTHER ex-staff members started to speak out in their own way, but somehow everyone associated forgot that I am my own person and know how to handle my shit. What other people were saying turned into my words even though no one thought to ask me my opinion or how I was feeling.
All this to say I was told I couldn’t speak out until a final agreement was reached about GLADYS NITE. We were told that we could continue business as usual (outside of UFO). We were told they didn’t want anything to do with the brand. They said they would “give me everything, as long as nothing disparaging was said about Spot Lite”. And even though I still have not said anything disparaging about UFO Bar or Spot Lite I received a cease and desist….almost 4 MONTHS LATER. Even through all my mistakes, I put my blood sweat and tears into my work and even more in to the project that was supposed to be mine. It was even marketed as mine, so why would I give up now?
My life and career would not be what it is now without Spot Lite and I will forever be grateful to the venue and the people I worked with and met along the way. Now it’s time for me to move on and do me. While Gladys Nite will live on in different ways, be on the lookout for a new concept from me and @kayleighmw
Love to the people that keep this scene going. See you when hibernation season is over. 🫶🏾💜 @gladysnitedetroit forever (in my wu-tang voice)

much of my work with music has been rooted in the dreams of my youth. the days where the cd tower reigned supreme. i tried teaching myself how to play the keyboard around this age. i used to spend hours in my room with my little cd player but my absolute favorite was riding around with my dad listening to all of his favorite cuts. young angela baskets loved busta, the spice girls, maxwell, al jerreau (lol) and the fugees but her absolute favorite was a tribe called quest (obvi).
I will continue to honor little me through music as angela baskets and tonight is her *debut* at @parisbardetroit for @sirendetroit 💞
next weekend you can catch me for my very first @hautetodeath (yay) 🫶🏾
