This past Saturday, more than fifty art enthusiasts joined us across two guided art tours at Bergamot Station during their Spring Open House. It was an engaged and curious group; people came ready to look closely, ask real questions, and, a modern miracle, stayed off their phones.
Several artists generously came out to speak with us at the galleries:
Peter Wegner / Marshall Gallery @marshall.gallery
Curtis Ripley / William Turner Gallery @williamturnergallery
Randall Reid / Nüart Gallery @nuartgallery
Ellieus / bG Gallery @bggallery
Nicoletta Spears / Von Lintel Gallery @vonlintelgallery
Thank you to the Bergamot Tenants Association and all participating galleries for making it possible to keep these tours free and open to the public.
And a special thank you (and congratulations) to Douglas Marshall, who recently became a father and welcomed us warmly despite his lack of sleep.
Conversations across the afternoon made one thing clear: people are hungry for in-person experiences that prioritize attention, education, and community over screen time. Our next round of tours at Bergamot will focus on how to look at art through the eyes of a collector and next spring, we’re looking forward to expanding the tours internationally with a guided experience through Costa Rica’s contemporary art ecosystem.

William Camargo’s All That I Can Carry at @hannahsloan_curatorial
William Camargo (@billythecamera) is a Southern California based artist who uses photography to examine the world around him — specifically looking at racism, gentrification, and how the city of Anaheim (where he grew up) ignores its indigenous history.
Camargo does not simply document before and after, but uses himself and people he encounters (from different neighborhoods) in an ongoing dialogue about displacement. The exhibition includes images from series created between 2019 and the present.
Camargo is at once a visual artist, community archivist and educator who examines "structures of erasure." He states, "I continue to negotiate with placemaking, belonging, and constructed borders. For this reason, I use my brown body, born and raised in Anaheim, to conduct these interventions. I use historical texts and contemporary stories to establish a connection in which the same injustices are repackaged through language and neoliberal policies."

We are honored to announce our exclusive representation of Claudia Gordillo Castellón.
A formidable and deeply influential lens-based artist from Nicaragua, Gordillo Castellón has spent decades shaping a vital visual record of her country’s history and cultural identity. Her photographs bear witness to life in the aftermath of the revolution and throughout the Contra war years—images that are at once intimate and unflinching.
Her practice extends beyond documentation into a sustained and rigorous inquiry into Indigenous communities across both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of Nicaragua. Through her work, she has traced the complex intersections of colonial histories and enduring spiritual traditions of indigenous peoples, creating a body of work that is both critical and reverent.
Despite being the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1994, Gordillo Castellón’s visibility on the international stage has remained limited—due in part to the realities of living and working under a dictatorial regime. That relative invisibility makes her work no less vital; rather, it underscores the urgency of her voice.
We are delighted to share that her work is now included in a prestigious collection in New York, and we look forward to announcing her inclusion in a major American museum very soon.
Gordillo Castellón’s photographs are not only historical documents—they are acts of resistance and deep cultural engagement. We look forward to sharing more of her work and legacy in the months ahead.
