Camp Leader of the Miscellaneous Heathens, Master Randolph Heathen, helped design his new custom fur coat.

Incorporating fully custom tapestries for the wearer marks a breakthrough moment for me as a coat maker; I’ve always felt limited by available tapestries-they were rarely trippy enough, blacklight reactive enough, or personal enough to the recipient.

Randy designed a couple different custom tapestries using AI and refining the elements, and then we had them custom-printed from a shop @glowtronics that makes AMAZINGLY vivid blacklight-reactive products.He wanted to incorporate @alexgreycosm images from @toolmusic ,Burning Man, and of our camp’s Mutant Vehicle, @beethenartcar

This is truly one-of-a-kind epic fashion for a Burning Man camp leader who has burned 21 times.He goes the extra mile taking care of us over the years, both on- and off-Playa.He keeps us laughing, he keeps us organized, he keeps us running.He is a dear dear friend, and a tremendous role model to me.He officiated our playa wedding this year, and did an absolutely perfect job.It was my honor to Gift my sewing labors to him, with this coat.

I additionally must thank the talented @ekaboo.button for helping me with many hours of sewing this year.It wouldn’t have been possible without her.I am excited to see what more we can produce as a team!

newest item!! this one is a *partial* custom, or perhaps a “remix.” ??

Our dear friend Space Monkey already had this nice fur vest, but the inside was a plain utilitarian brown.He requested something more ✨ interesting ✨ - so we worked together to first select a tapestry, then pick the specific segments he liked best. He also wanted to add (zippered) chest pockets to securely hold his things while he monkeys around!!

While disassembling the existing vest and liner, I realized the body fur would transilluminate with LEDs from within.I pondered surprising him with this, and then he clarified that he’d prefer the LED trim style similar to most of my other coats.

It was supposed to be ready for Burning Man, but uh, I didn’t make that deadline 😅

This was challenging and new for several reasons!Starting from an existing garment is not necessarily easier!Vest armholes are harder than sleeves.And this was my first-ever **collar** of LED fur, rather than a hood.But I love learning things the hard way; it challenges my technical skills and artistic growth!!

Have the big coat reveal *on Lake Tahoe* while boating with your friends!!

Very pleased to have finished @manda_lynne7 ‘s coat.This one is made with a cool tapestry from @liquiddreamsart which hung in our camp all week during Mud Burn.Amanda liked this tapestry enough that she was inspired to ask if I could make it into a coat.Absolutely!Teal being her favorite color, I even selected teal batteries for the LEDs. 🩵🩵 to match her selection of ice blue from @bigzfabric

This makes the 8th fully custom fur coat.So far!

She and her crew were all SO friendly and welcoming.Alex even brought me a soldering kit when my lights needed repair, because sometimes stuff breaks when you party hard!!
