β¨CAT LUCK @shopcollarbone
βAs a non-binary designer, I strive to create work for all gender expressions that can be worn in a unique and playful way, bringing each wearer in touch with their higher self, true potential, and brilliance. The Crab being I created for this show is inspired by being a double cancer and a sensitive non-binary queer person navigating this binary heteronormative world.β
.
β¨Cecelia Plympton @cece_plympton
"This piece incorporates an artifact of my relationship with craft, this web-like silver shape. It comes from intuitive drawings that I would do during my first year of college, when some health issues made it difficult for me to focus on school. Drawing the paths and connections in this shape would visually reinforce my meditations on how I came to the position I was in, and decide how I wanted to continue creating. I use it now to honor the work I did then to make space in my life for a creative practice.β
.
β¨Crater Powers @craterverse
βMy practice revolves around abstracting the human form as a way of processing my queer embodiment. Iβm interested in creating objects that resist hegemonic modes of design that center cis-heteronormative identities and relationships. I explore how shared experiences of ostracization can act as a pathway to connection and can allow queer individuals to defy the suppression of their identities.β
.
β¨Danica Drago @danicadrago
"My practice as a tool and object maker is drawn towards investigating my own embodied
experiences of trans/gender expansiveness; through ceramic, metal, and various material
outcomes. This work is part of an ongoing series called Porous Binaries; a wearable visual vernacular of sculptural adornment objects, exploring the reconstruction of ideas and material language around gender, sexuality, and human biology.β
