If you met me last week at Australian Fashion Week you wouldn’t even guess I had Rheumatoid Arthritis and I was in the midst of a flare up! It’s cause I work so damn hard and do everything in my power to do my best! Even if I’m sick! I dress up, I show up, I make sure I manage everything! And I do it in heels too! Hahha!

This was the day I was the makeup director backstage at AFW and my brand @beautybyrosh was the makeup sponsor! I woke up at 3am this day, did my hair and makeup and then headed to MCA for a 5am backstage call time! And worked on the floor managing all the artists and models till 8am and then changed into this amazing gown from @sonali.dharmawardena to go sit in the front row and watch the show! Yes all this with an active auto immune disease! 😁

I was recently diagnosed with a CCP positive Rheumatoid arthritis and been really struggling, but the meds are finally kicking in! (My CCP is 196 — which is considered extremely high) I have systemic inflammation all over my body and my immune system is attacking my own body! I’m on steroids till the disease modifying drugs (methotrexate + Hydroxychloraquin) kicks in.

I’ve been on Methotrexate injectable 15mg for 4 weeks now— At Gary’s show backstage marked the 4th injection I took! What a momentous moment cause the doctors said it would take 4 weeks to see any effects! And they were right! I really like these strange coincidences.. my 4th injection just happen to be the day I was the makeup director for a show , I remember 2 weeks ago thinking “I really hope the doctors are right and and I’ll be ok to do this by this date”.
I am doing a lot better than 4 weeks ago when I was on a wheelchair! Yup! I was being mobilised only with a wheelchair! I was in and out of the emergency and my RA flair up was so bad. I really sometimes can’t believe it myself , but I’m not someone who ever gives up!

The ones who truly know me know that I’m unstoppable when I put my mind to it. It didn’t matter what life threw at me— may it be domestic abuse for 10 years, my chronic illnesses like fars disease or Thalassemia and now RA.. I will always learn to pick myself back up! And that is my most valuable asset.

Can we talk about this look our founder created for Australian Fashion Week!!! @roshkumarasinghe was the Makeup Director at the Gary Bigeni show and this was the look she created with her team of incredibly talented makeup artists who executed perfectly using Beauty by Rosh products! Gary had a vision for his show and our makeup products just suited it so well!We are all about natural, comfortable, long wear makeup that is made for everyone! No fragrance, no synthetics, 100% vegan, cruelty free and sustainable and made here in Australia. We create products for everyone!

Each individual model’s unique features were enhanced and not changed. Fresh skin with a light natural wash of foundation and concealer. And we used the Beautybyrosh eyeshadow palette and created a shimmery liner just with shadow! Some mascara, and wash of colour on the cheeks using Designer and Front Row lip & cheek tints and a Lilly R with a bit of gloss over top!
