Museums play a determining role in how art is experienced, interpreted, and circulated. On International Museum Day, RMZ Foundation reflects on the institutional partnerships that foster critical discourse around contemporary art.
Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, established in 1857 to promote trade with the British Empire, provided the defining context for Himali Singh Soin @himalisinghsoin and David Soin Tappeser’s @davidsointappeser first institutional exhibition in India. ‘Salt Lines’ excavated the lost archive of the Inland Customs Line, examining colonial boundaries and truth-telling through archival research and speculative histories. The museum’s own collections of historical maps of salt pans and material from colonial India deepened the work’s engagement with the site, demonstrating how museums actively shape dialogue between contemporary art, documentation and memory.
Salt Lines was presented by Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum @bdlmuseum, in collaboration with RMZ Foundation and India Art Fair @indiaartfair, with curatorial advisor Tasneem Zakaria Mehta @tz_mehta, supported by Alkazi Foundation for the Arts @alkazifoundation. With special thanks to Vadehra Art Gallery @vadehraartgallery.

An afternoon of readings and conversation at Hotel Metropole, Venice opened up reflections on South Asian futurism, belonging, memory and the ways artistic practices can carry histories across time and place.
For We Are Ours, Himali Singh Soin @himalisinghsoin and David Soin Tappeser @davidsointappeser were joined by Amin Jaffer @aminjaffer_curator, Curator of @indiaatvenice, and Karishma Swali @karishmaswali77, Artistic Director of @chanakya.school, in a conversation that moved through geology, migration, myth and craft, tracing how shared cultural memory continues to shape imagined futures. Guests stayed on in discussion after the session concluded, carrying forward ideas that felt connected to the present moment.
Supported by RMZ Foundation and Avtar Foundation @avtarfoundation, with Fondazione Henraux @fondazionehenraux, Himali and David’s work at Biennale Arte 2026: In Minor Keys by Koyo Kouoh remains on view at the Arsenale di Venezia till 22 November, 2026.

Himali Singh Soin @himalisinghsoin and David Soin Tappeser @davidsointappeser explore a form of South Asian futurism shaped by myth, deep time, and interconnected histories.
At Biennale Arte 2026 @labiennale, they present a sonic-textile installation bringing together Subcontinentment (2020) and Mountain, pixelated in the water (2021). Drawing on geological connections between the Indian subcontinent and the polar regions, the work creates a space for rest and listening, where sound is translated into a handwoven cotton-and-ahimsa silk textile by master artisan Gajam Govardhan.
With support from RMZ Foundation and Avtar Foundation @avtarfoundation, with Fondazione Henraux @fondazionehenraux, In Minor Keys by Koyo Kouoh is now on view at the Arsenale di Venezia for the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.
On view until 22 November 2026.

On International Sculpture Day, RMZ Foundation recognises the guards, housekeepers, and maintenance teams who quietly preserve and protect sculptures in shared spaces. Through their daily presence and sustained attention, they develop personal and meaningful relationships with these works, observing how people engage, respond, and return to them over time.
This knowledge, shaped by proximity and lived experience, is as vital as any formal understanding of art.
At RMZ Foundation, we are committed to building cultural infrastructure through public art, creating spaces where art is accessible, lived, and part of everyday experience. This commitment is made possible by those who care for it each day.
The Foundation extends its gratitude to the keepers of art, whose stewardship sustains these works, and the communities around them.

RMZ Foundation’s approach to global patronage has always been anchored in a long-term vision of positioning India as an active global participant in shaping contemporary art conversations and supporting artists develop rigorous, research-led and evolving practices.
Over the years, this commitment has taken shape through support on international platforms: Bharti Kher’s @bharti_kher_studio_ exploration of myth and gender at Yorkshire Sculpture Park @yspsculpture; Vibha Galhotra’s @vibhagalhotra architectonic reflections on urban ecologies at NIROX Sculpture Park @niroxfoundation; Alicja Kwade’s @alicjakwade large-scale installation at Sculpture Park at Madhavendra Palace; and Suhasini Kejriwal’s @suhasinikejriwal botanical forms at Frieze Sculpture 2023 @frieze.london. Each of these engagements has been part of a larger, evolving ecosystem, placing diverse artistic voices within global conversations and enabling new ways of experiencing the world.
The Foundation continues this commitment with its support to Himali Singh Soin @himalisinghsoin and David Soin Tappeser @davidsointappeser at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia @labiennale, In Minor Keys, curated by Koyo Kouoh, in collaboration with Avtar Foundation @avtarfoundation and Fondazione Henraux @fondazionehenraux.
