Over the next few weeks, Basil’s Garage and HOWL Campfires are building the Ultimate Baja Surf Rig from a slept-on legend:
A 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 24-valve Cummins.

Solid axles.
Simple.
Reliable.
Cheap enough that you can actually use the thing without having a panic attack every time the trail throws a curveball.

And when we’re done?

We’re taking it to Baja and putting it head-to-head against Basil’s $200K rig so you can see the real differences.

Then we’re handing someone the keys. Maybe you.
