I stand in solidarity with the Iranian people against the Islamic Republic of Iran. My hope is that this regime falls and Iran can be free from dictatorship, authoritarian rule and theocratic control.
The number of protesters killed may exceed even the highest media estimates, which reach 20,000. Thousands and thousands ofpeople— young people and families killed. I am heartbroken and devastated.
I did not post earlier because I had no words. But we all must find the words and voice to support the Iranian people. Innocent people are being murdered, arrested, detained, tortured. As an Indigenous woman, I know what it is like to not feel heard. So in my small way I hope I can lend my voice to the Iranian people because it seems that they are not being listened to. But maybe if we all speak up it can make a difference. Let’s amplify their voices. In solidarity.

Behind the scenes of the 2025 Transform Festival Closing Bash! ✨🪶🎉

What an absolute honour it was to host this unforgettable night and witness a breathtaking collection of artistry, culture, and community. Also, a shout out to the crew for the Vancouver Playhouse, who also did an outstanding job( and included me in a birthday dinner celebration back stage! 🥹❤️😋—Best carrot cake ever!!)

We began the evening with a heartfelt welcome to the territory from QuelemiaSparrow @quelemiasparrow who reminded us of the importance of showing up in spaces in a good way — with respect, care, and gratitude. Her words echoed a powerful truth: our greatest wealth is found in how we provide for one another, how we uplift our communities, and how we honour the land and relationships that sustain us. 🙌🏽🪶❤️

As the perfect cap to a brilliant festival, the night brought together emerging voices and extraordinary talent — including the incredible Canada’s Got Talent winner @cangottalent Rebecca Strong @rebeccastrongmusic . The stage came alive with a powerful fusion of Indigenous and non-Indigenous artistry, and together we created something bigger than performance… we created a celebration of connection.
A reminder of how creativity can bridge worlds, uplift stories, and inspire us all.
Now in its 6th year, Transform Festival continues to be a bold celebration of collaboration, representation, and the transformative power of the arts. Thank you to @coreypayette for your leadership and inclusion! 👏🏽❤️🪶

I left the stage and the space feeling inspired and truly grateful. 🙏🏽🪶🥹🏳️‍⚧️🎭🧡🎉

Until we meet again, all my relations!

Last month, our team had the pleasure to work on @neworldtheatre’s production in development: ‘Tumulx’ by Quelemia Sparrow 🌟✨🌱

Tumulx by @QuelemiaSparrow is a new piece of Indigenous Futurism that envisions a future where Earth, tired, hot and desperate for salvation, begins to reach out to those she can trust, those with ancient bonds and lineages she believes to be dependable. They work together in a rebellion made of human and natural strategies to save the planet. It tells the story of a world where Indigenous nations globally once again become truly sovereign stewards of the land and this courageous leadership saves the planet.

This development in January 2024 was part of the UBC Fellowship. We’re very grateful to have our team be part of this meaningful workshop process! We can’t wait to see the production continue to develop ❤️

Recently two of my joys in life have come together in creation of this upcoming event: sharing Musqueam culture and teaching yoga. ❤️

What incredible kismet! It would mean the world to me if you joined us to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day x International Yoga Day. Weaving yogic philosophy with Indigenous teachings.

Join me for: Four-Directions Yoga Flow, a lululemon Membership event@lululemon

At BC place on Indigenous Peoples Day! @bcplacestadium

Date: June 21st from 5-6:30pm PDT
Location: In-person at BC Place and live-streamed across North America

Created in collaboration with these amazing teachers! Sḵwx̱wú7mesh teacher Lydia Williams @lydia.lm.williams and Natasha Tolkamp @natasha.a.yoga from səlilwətaɬAnd Shayla Stonechild @lululemon ambassador @shayla0h from Red River Métis and Nehiyaw from Muscowpetung First Nation.

Shayla will guide us through a 4 directions yoga class based on her beautiful teachings and all three host nations will welcome her to this land. It’s going to be an epic celebration of Indigeneity. Come play and connect to this land in a very special way. And I’m going to share some Cedar teachings!

Angie Tiwari @tiwariyoga will be welcomed on the land and we are so incredibly grateful that she will be sharing ways to honour International Yoga Day and the roots and lineage of where yoga comes from. Hy’ch’ka Angie.

Acosia Red Elk @acosia_and Vina Brown @coppercanoewoman will be welcomed as well and demo’ing poses for the class. Hy’ch’ka Acosia and Vina.

Back home from #tiff22 What a fantastic whirlwind. Filming Until Branches Bend was a heart expanding experience for me. Love @sophiecjarvis our director so much! So kind and brilliant. Also, my cousin @colesprrw played my son. And he was so beautiful. I picked him up from our Rez and we drove to the Okanagan to shoot together! So many special moments. It was good to finally be able to celebrate together. And @grace.glowicki and @life.as.alexandra were so incredible. I was so blown away by your work! Whoa! Beauty.
