#EUmiesAwardsDays | The EUmies Awards Days: On Reuse also unfold through food, sound and collective experience.
ACTIONS: VER AGUAS + Meritxell de Soto
🗓 11 May 2026
🕢 20:30
📍 Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, Barcelona
On 11 May, at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, VER AGUAS presents Reuse Food, a gastronomic action that approaches food as a platform for connection between producers, territories and creative ways of sharing.
The evening also includes Third Space, a live performance by Meritxell de Soto halfway between choreography and a DJ set. The piece reflects on safe spaces within the club environment, asking whether they can truly exist, whether they can become forms of oppression under the name of protection, and what tools we use to inhabit the club.

#EUmiesAwardsDays | As part of the EUmies Awards Days: On Reuse, Olaf Grawert (b+ | HouseEurope!) will deliver the keynote lecture 'A Question of Value', a reflection on the value system that shapes architecture and the construction sector today.
KEYNOTE: A Question of Value
🗓 11 May 2026
🕢 19:30
📍 Palau Victòria Eugènia, Barcelona
Architects often speak about materials, performance or innovation, but these questions are always framed by a broader system of value. In that system, value is usually reduced to growth, wealth and profit, training us to see the old as risk and the new as opportunity. This lecture asks what it would mean to shift that logic. To renovate, extend and transform is not only to preserve buildings, but to preserve and redirect value towards labour, energy and culture. In doing so, architecture becomes more complex, more demanding and more inventive, opening unexpected responses to changing questions.

#EUmiesAwardsDays | Discover the remaining two of the four panels in this year's EUmies Awards Days: On Reuse, both taking place on the second day of the programe, 12 May 2026:
PANEL 3: Reuse as adaptability
🗓 12 May 2026
🕟 16:30
📍 Palau Victòria Eugènia, Barcelona
This panel understands reuse through the capacity of architecture to remain open to change. It focuses on projects that do not prescribe a single fixed future, but instead build frameworks for transformation over time, through flexible structures, reversible strategies and spaces able to host shifting uses.
Featuring ARP Peračić Veljačić, onze04, with Rosa Rull as moderator.
In this perspective, adaptability is not an afterthought. It is a design intelligence embedded in the project from the beginning, allowing the existing to remain active, resilient and available for future forms of life.

Reuse is not always about preserving things as they are. It can also involve opening, subtracting, reprogramming and selectively redefining what already exists. This panel addresses reuse as an active projective practice, one capable of reshaping the spatial, environmental and urban logic of inherited buildings.
Featuring AgwA and architecten jan de vylder inge vinck, with Nikolaus Hirsch as moderator.
Here, transformation becomes a way of working critically with pre-existence, not by freezing it, but by unlocking new forms of use, meaning and collective relevance.

PANEL 1: Reuse as economy of means
🗓 11 May 2026
🕟 16:30
📍 Palau Victòria Eugènia, Barcelona
This conversation approaches reuse as a practice grounded in precision, constructive intelligence and the careful use of what already exists. Rather than relying on overproduction or technologically excessive solutions, the panel looks at how architectural knowledge, technical know-how and material restraint can enable buildings and materials to remain in use over time.
Featuring Betillon & Freyermuth, Vidic Grohar Arhitekti, and L56 d.o.o., with Tina Gregorič as moderator.
Working from pre-existence means understanding construction deeply enough to optimise it, maintain it and transform it with the minimum necessary intervention.
—
PANEL 2: Reuse as cultural production
🗓 11 May 2026
🕕 18:00
📍 Palau Victòria Eugènia, Barcelona
Beyond technical performance, reuse can also be understood as a cultural act. This panel explores how architecture produces knowledge through materials, construction processes, territorial relations and public forms of mediation. It asks how working with the existing can open broader questions around supply chains, labour, local resources and the political dimensions of practice.
Featuring Assemble, BC architects & studies, H arquitectes, and The Luma Foundation, with Josephine Michau as moderator.
Reuse is not only about extending the life of buildings, but also about redefining the cultural frameworks through which architecture is produced and understood.

—
The EUmies Awards benefit from the participation of @ace.archi.eu, the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE), along with @worldarchitects_official as strategic partner, the partnership with @junglovesarchitecture, @jansen_steel_systems, @zumtobel_light, the support of @usmmodularfurniture and @hotelalmabcn, and @ecc_italy as the venue partner in Venice.

#EUmiesAwardsDays | Discover the first two of four panels in this year's EUmies Awards Days: On Reuse, both taking place on the first day of the programme, 11 May 2026:
