To mark this occasion, we are releasing what will be the final collaboration for now—part of a series of collaborations created worldwide with a wide variety of artists, using or working with Holger Czukay’s original material for “Irgendwann.” At this point, I’d like to extend a very special thank you to @dirkurlich , who took care of this project and so much more!!! ;

We’re excited to join this special concert as Otucha Collective (Agnieszka Kucharska, Doro Michalak, Ola Zielińska) together with Schneider TM and Pyrolator.

— 13 March — 8 pm —

📍 Kiezraum, Mehringdamm 28, 10961 Berlin (entrance – from Mehringdamm, walk behind the Finanzamt to the last house)
Admission free – bring your own drinks

It is a case of pop-cultural archaeology — a search for traces within electronic music. More than 30 years later, lost tapes by Holger Czukay have resurfaced, recordings he once made and declared “freely available”.

Gvoon is an ongoing series of reinterpretations and collaborations by international artists, brought together by Dirk Dresselhaus (Schneider TM) beginning with Holger Czukay’s 1997 recording “Gvoon – Brennung 1”. On this evening, Schneider TM, Otucha Collective and Pyrolator interpret the work live, with original video by Gvoon founder Arthur Schmidt @gvoonart

Pre-release concert for the final version of the Holger Czukay collaboration series “Gvoon – Version 2–11” (album out 24.03.2026 on MirrorWorldMusic).

Our interview with Otucha Collective is now live on Substack. Very excited to share it with you.

Finding Otucha felt like a warm, comforting hand on my shoulder. Watching them perform was familiar yet new and almost primal. Young, contemporary artists singing songs I would normally dismiss as an ‘olden days’ thing.

The sense of togetherness. Powerful stances in the middle of a meadow. Envy-inducing group portraits. Balkan grandmas wearing sunglasses. It all struck a chord and made me wish I was part of this cool witch circle in Berlin.

The collective embodies the ideas behind Eastern Folk, so Otucha seemed like the natural pick for our first feature. When I reached out to Ola, she warmly embraced the idea of a conversation. Chatting with her, Agnieszka and Doro cracked open the door into the world of voice. They showed me that it holds the power to rewrite our collective future.

There’s a quiet understanding between immigrants. The desire to feel free to evolve beyond tradition whilst respecting the foundations set by those before us and feeling content with the present.

Find the full interview at the link in bio.

During the opening of DESACTA this Thursday, come join us for a Conspiracy of Silence with Mû Mbana and Otucha Collective, conconcting West African tunes with Eastern European singing!

𓋉 DESACTA 𓋉
COUNTER-SPELLS TO UNRAVEL 140 YEARS OF THE BERLIN CONFERENCE
OPENING13.11.2025 19:00
With a musical performance by Mû Mbana and Otucha Collective

Co-Curator Mû Mbana describes this sonic counterspell:
To overshadow. To eclipse. The clarity of the light that Cheikh Anta Diop scattered, cast upon the courtyard. The crown on the table. Sisters and brothers, we must be vigilant; we must put a face to what is happening around us, and we must recognise (re-pair) that there is a planetary movement unfolding throughout history. The chaff is separated from the grain. There is a planetary movement sifting through history, and everything unwanted – the stones, the chaff, the irumbudura – falls to the ground. In the sieve, only the clean rice remains. This pan-African movement began to sift through history, and what they discovered – everything inverted, the children deceived. With the irumbudura away, the paradigm that we thought would bring us glory has turned upside down; children deceived. Fará fina (Bauhinia cheilantha) is germinating and sprouting. Kamita (Africa in our languages) has awakened from two thousand years of nightmarish dreams. The message arrived that Cheikh Anta, grandson of N’mbaque (Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, a mystical figure of Sufi culture from the Touba region of Senegal), played the bombolom (a traditional communication drum made from a hollow wooden trunk) to alert us that there is history. N’mbaque’s grandson dug into memory and showed us that there is a path. N’mbaque’s grandson spoke clear words: kambletc na iago ca ta foga, a piece of broken gourd in water always floats, like the truth. Truth is eternal (in our languages, the truth is that which endures over time). Wake up, look and notice – build a new morning... Accept and embrace a new morning.

𓍼ֶָ֢𓂃weaving the last threads of this year’s ulga 𓍼ֶָ֢𓍯𓂃

Our final gathering at @savvycontemporary gently closed the 2025 cycle — a constellation of meetings, meals, stories, and sounds shared between Floating University and SAVVY Contemporary.

We came together for “Echoes of Care” — a day of collective mapping, deep listening, chanting and re-rooting.

We began with Polyphonic Folklores, tracing memory through myth, gesture, and threads of belonging with @iiiignacy; continued into Sounding with @otucha_collective , where voices intertwined into acts of care and frequencies to come together; and finally drifted into the ambient and mythopoetic sound landscape of Daniela Huerta @baby_vulture closing performance.

Across the months, ulga grew into a living archive of togetherness — shaped by dozens of collaborators and hundreds of guests, by shared meals, somatic rituals, and collective breaths. A space of remembering that resilience is not only endurance, but care that we can share and tune into.

With deep gratitude to everyone who shaped, held, and witnessed these gatherings — to all artists, hosts, and participants, to SAVVY Contemporary for opening their space and hearts, Ola Zielińska that co-curated those gatherings and hosted us, to Anna Fasolafo @fasolatoanna95 for being our production fairy, to Turi for making the sound beautiful and to Matthew Hansen for beautifully capturing the moments of presence.

⟡⟡⟡ Sounding with Otucha Collective ⟡⟡⟡
15.10 ~ 6PM
rsvp: ulga4all@gmail.com

In one hour of singing and sounding together, we will share a practice rooted in rural Eastern European vocal traditions, deep listening, and somatic practices.

“Otucha” is a Polish word for an act of care between beings.

To give otucha is to lift someone’s spirits, to surround them with encouragement.
Formed in 2022, Otucha Collective is a Berlin-based vocal ensemble of FLINTA+ practitioners with immigrant backgrounds.

What began as a self-empowerment group, born from a shared desire to re-work personal heritages and engage in communal practices, has since grown into a space of collective voice and care. Today, Otucha creates vocal performances and public interventions, facilitates workshops, and holds regular singing circles.

✿⋱⋰✿ Echoes of Care — Day 2 (15.10.) of ulga at SAVVY ✿⋱⋰✿

The second day of the gathering curated by ulga creates a space for restoration and inquiry into how bodies carry myths, memories, and exhaustion — and how to regenerate together through voice, movement and sound.

⋱⋰ Followed by @otucha_collective, a Berlin-based FLINTA+ ensemble reworking Eastern European vocal traditions, who will open a circle of deep listening and embodied care.

⋱⋰ To close, Daniela Huerta @baby_vulture will create an ambient hybrid set, a dreamscape of sound for slow landing.

Ciało do ciała usta do ust i nigdy więcej nie smuć się już. —
Body to body, lips to lips and you will never be upset again.

— the refrain of a famous disco polo song by Toples band. Whether we like it or not, these songs live in our bodies, tucked away in deep compartments, ready to surface at any time. They carry patriarchal patterns, soaked in shame and embarrassment—yet they are just here.
Some time ago we started to wonder how to work with the parts of us which we don’t want to carry any further, knowing that neglecting it, won’t help. We’ve started reworking these songs, reshaping lyrics, creating polyphonic harmonies, weaving them with traditional songs. So that they can take a different place in our body memory.

It’s neither easy to work with the very old songs which often carry a lot of weight.
Yet we are committed to transform that weight into power that can support us. To sing together with an open voice all that deep old sediments which demand to be sung out, feels liberating, empowering, relieving.
