What followed was a major overhaul and update of the whole thing, resulting in this #book, the most complete in the field by far. If you need to know anything about modular it’s either in here or points you to where you’ll find out. What, how and even why are covered in depth… and in #english Published by @radialverlag

Figurant was realised as a live audiovisual performance combining analogue film, experimental image-making processes and live improvisation, presented at Strange Parade - a Victorian house and former surgery repurposed as a pop-up gallery in Nunhead, London. @strange.parade

The performance utilised 8mm film from the 1960s, which was physically altered through submersion in the River Ravensbourne in South London. This act introduced chance-based material transformation, such as decay and distortion, which became integral to the work. Manipulated film sequences were combined with live improvised sounds and spoken word, creating a multi-sensory environment in which image, text and audio interacted in real time.

Collaboratively, the project brought together practitioners from different disciplines, with each contributor responding to the material through their respective medium:

Inga Tillere: visual artist working with experimental photographic processes, moving image and performance. @ingatillere
Johny Brown: writer, poet and vocalist with Band of Holy Joy. Medium, voice and Oujia board. @_johny_brown_
Jono Podmore: producer, performer and writer, and Professor of the Practice of Popular Music in Cologne, Germany. Instruments: theremin, field recordings, electronics (Elektron Octatrack, MI Clouds clone, Intellijel Planar II), stones, bowed and rung bells. @kingkoomz
Mark Beazley: bass player who has been recording music under the name of Rothko since 1999. Instruments: bass guitar, Korg AX30B Bass Effects Unit and Blackstar Amplifier. Ambient sounds created using Project Sam True Strike Orchestral Percussion.
