Faculty Spotlight: Maria Rosa Brea (@nyusteinhardt)
Maria Rosa Brea is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders where she teaches courses on bi/multilingualism, learning disabilities, and culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies.
For over two decades, she has been pushing back against narrow ideas of “correct” communication by centering the strengths of youth who are often labeled as linguistically minoritized in U.S. classrooms.

“In London, I am able to go into a primary school on Mondays and shadow my mentor teacher in preparation for my student teaching that will commence in the fall semester. It has by far opened and shaped my mentality in giving me ideas of what to incorporate for my future classroom one day.“ - Jennifer

We hope you took a moment to savor it all. 💜
The last card swipe into your home building.
The last goodbye to a professor who changed how you see the world.
The memories you'll carry long after the cap comes off. Before the big day, we got a peek into how one of our own is soaking it all in.
Thank you to the incredibly talented Sophia Klinard Rubio (BFA ’26, Studio Art) for bringing us along for her cap decorating process. 🎓🎨
Congratulations, Class of 2026. You made it!
