At Dolores Gonzalez Elementary, Principal Parisa Asgharzadeh has helped create a campus where the visual and performing arts are woven into everyday learning and community life. From monthly concerts and school musicals to belonging activities that connect families and students across grade levels, creativity is always at the center.

As a proud Creative Campus, DGES brings teaching artists directly to students and provides meaningful arts experiences throughout the year. Their annual whole-school performance at the National Hispanic Cultural Center has become a signature celebration of student voice, confidence, and community, with every student taking the stage.

Dolores Gonzalez Elementary took their learning beyond the classroom and onto the stage at the National Hispanic Cultural Center for their annual end-of-year Variety Show. Every student performed, showcasing the music, dance, and creative work they’ve been building all year long.

Favorite thing about photo/video: Shining the spotlight on people and seeing their reactions to the finished product
Accomplishments in photo: Produced and filmed multiple videos
Future plans: Bring more people into the photo and film community, inspire others to pick up a camera, and bring their artistic vision into projects. Also creating a production team for Valley High
Do you have a favorite type of photo, video, or music? I enjoy portraits and fashion photography. My favorite type of video is music videos
Fun fact about you that most people don’t know? Once you get to know me, you’ll see there’s a wide variety of opportunities I can offer
Role model: Is there someone you look up to, like a role model? Why do you admire them? Nipsey Hussle. He was all about the hustle, and his documentaries are inspiring. I also look up to him because I want to set a strong example for my little brother and see him be successful
What other things do you like to do after school and on weekends? I like making beats and producing music. I also like checking out events happening around the city on weekends
What do you want to do when you are older? I want to start a business, preferably in media, and eventually expand into clothing and other related products

The Volcano Vista Orchestra, under the direction of Jeremiah Neely, performs Flight of the Ice Dragon with a multi-cam setup that puts you right in the middle of the ensemble. From a GoPro head-mounted perspective to sweeping crane shots and angles from within the group, this is a performance you don’t just watch… you experience.

Huge credit to these students for their focus, musicianship, and energy. This kind of performance doesn’t happen without serious dedication.

What a whirlwind it has been lately 🎨
This past Saturday, students from across Albuquerque came together for the second annual District Art Mart at Berna Facio. Booths were set up throughout the space as students shared and sold their artwork to the public, showcasing an incredible variety of creativity and talent.
Thank you to everyone who helped organize this event, to the students for putting your work out into the world, and to the Beats Club from LCHS for bringing the music and energy.
