He found major success in the late 1970s and 1980s, releasing a string of influential albums that defined the city pop era. He became known as a perfectionist in the studio, often writing, arranging, and producing his own work. Known for silky vocals and meticulous production, he blends pop, soul, and funk into timeless, nostalgic hits that shaped Japanese music for decades.
