Our Yuzu saison is a staple here at Godspeed, and we decided to mix it up with a refreshing twist.

Bursting with deliciously tart citrus, splashed with hibiscus, and pouring a show-stopping fuchsia pink.

Pouring this weekend - Kakkō ( “downhill”) our take on a classic Vienna Lager, makes its return to the lineup.

Anton Dreher, the heir of a popular brewery in Austria’s capital, popularized this style and revolutionized brewing when he paired his patented lightly kilned malts with lager fermentation. We used 100% Weyermann Vienna malt, a decoction mash and whole-cone Saaz hops.

Pouring an inviting light amber with thick, dense foam. On the palate; toasted bread crust, honey, and soft caramel are complemented by a round texture and clean finish. As with all of our lagers, extended cold conditioning time, and natural carbonation serve to soften the edges.

Say hello to our finest piece of glassware yet, and allow us to formally introduce our exploratory Pilsner series.

The worlds first Pilsner is none other than the legendary Pilsner Urquell, to which we hold high on the pedestal of lager brewing.
First brewed in 1842, the Czech Pilsner stood alone until the late 1800’s when Germany began to craft their own versions representative of their local water and ingredients. Over the years, the influence of Pilsner began to spread, with many regional variations now recognized. All showcasing native hop varieties, malts and brewing techniques.

These are all styles never brewed at Godspeed until now. You may have seen our first entries in this series:

Arioli is the next installment in our new exploratory series of Pilsners. Named as a nod to Agostino Arioli - our friend, brewing pioneer, founder of @birrificioitaliano , and the world famous Tipopils.

This month marked the 30th anniversary of Birrificio Italiano, and the very first Italian Pilsner.Tipopils is also credited as the worlds first dry-hopped Pilsner -which continues to inspire over the years, including brewing heavy weights such as Firestone walker’s “Pivo Pils” and Oxbow’s “Luppolo”. Agostino’s innovation helped pave the way for the bustling global lager scene we enjoy today.

Our version uses all German malt, and hand picked Saphir hops. The layered hopping offers a bouquet of floral notes, a touch of spice and lemon zest with a clean and refreshing bitter finish.

Bursting out of the glass are notes of juicy mango, guava and pineapple, with a squeeze of orange served on a silky smooth cloud of oats and pilsner malt.

During a visit back to his hometown of Gatineau, our founder Luc Lafontaine made a visit to an old friend at @5ebaron . The inevitable collaboration talks started and we hit up our pals and fellow Gatineau brewers and legendary haze producers - @brasseriebascanada . After some discussion, the choice became ironically clear, to make some haze at Godspeed – for the first time.

For this project we sourced Quebec grown El Dorado hops from @houblonniere_lupuline , who hold the exclusive rights to grow this variety in Canada and finished it off with the ever-popular Citra hops. We then utilized a special blend of lager and ale yeasts, courtesy of @fermentisbylesaffre . These strains are capable of transforming compounds in the hops by unlocking bound thiols and then enhancing them through biotransformation during active fermentation. This boosts these hop compounds and maximizes tropical and citrus fruit aromas.

3. Our servers will walk around with Kölsch tray’s (Kränze trays), replace your empty glass and add a tick to your coaster

4. Repeats until you place your coaster on top of your glass, this signals you are done!

‼️🍻KÖLSCH SERVICE🍻‼️

It’s time again for a fresh drop of Gokurosama - Kölsch style Lagered-Ale!

With that, comes traditional Cologne Kölsch service!

The way it works, is instead of you ordering a new beer, our servers look for empty glasses on coasters to replace with a cold crispy glass of Kölsch! The glasses (called Stanges) are only 200ml, this keeps the beers cold, keeps it crisp; and then we keep them coming! (Responsibly, of course) When you are ready to call it a day, simply place your coaster on top of your glass to signal to our staff you have finished your session.

Sounds fun right? Come on down and experience some European style hospitality!
