Late last year I got to shoot X3 Rugged for BMW South Africa.
This project was such a reminder of why I love my job.
Shooting in the bush, on dirt roads, through mud and dust, everything about this shoot was physical and immediate. The environment wasn’t just our backdrop, but a character in the story, and the challenge was letting that energy come through without overcomplicating the execution.
Sometimes the most satisfying shoots are the ones where you get to really lean into the terrain, embrace the dirt, and let the conditions do some of the work for you.
Thanks for having me @theoldshanghai & @bmwsouthafrica
Thank you to my incredible crew who braved the elements (and clock) with me
Thank you to @vos_films for the photos

Archive. We spoke about this today so I thought I’d share the photographic evidence of what happens when you have a wedding on the day of the FA Cup final. The real reason DSTV has a mobile app.
Chelsea lost. There wasn’t much dancing. I was there with my friends which is the thing that counts the most.
We got down and dusty in @mini_southafrica new campaign for the Countryman Rugged Edition.
True to the campaign line we really did make every space our playground!
Thanks to the adventurous agency and phenomenal crew on this one!

I didn’t even know how to google what this is called, ChatGPT says its called ‘branded informational meme style’ so I guess it has its roots in meme. Who knows. I just think its bad marketing because it makes your content look like all the other content out there. And it’s not just weirdo facebook pages, its accredited media who use it too. Maybe its just a Canva preset or something. And yes it bothers me so much I made a post about it (maybe hoping one of you who makes these things can explain why)

Effy Jewellery x Beading the Odds
@beading_the_odds is one of the most inspiring NPOs we’ve had the privilege to work with. Creating this piece for them and @effyjewelry was an honour.
Their work is life-changing, they help survivors of gender-based violence rebuild their lives through economic empowerment and creative expression. What began as a small collective of 25 women has now grown to more than 90 across four provinces, and they continue to expand and reach more woman and communities.
This growth has been made possible, in part, through a meaningful and long-term partnership with Effy Jewellery.
For Effy, this partnership was the result of a thoughtful, long process to find a partner whose values aligned with their own. Beading the Odds was an ideal match. Their shared belief in empowerment, resilience, and purpose became the foundation of this collaboration.
Together, they’ve created a limited-edition bracelet, designed exclusively for Effy’s global customer base, that represents not just craftsmanship, but hope, survival, and solidarity.
We need more brands like Effy Jewellery, brands that show up with intention, invest in long-term relationships, and recognise that real change is built together.
Please take a moment to watch the film and hear directly from these women, their strength and their stories speak for themselves.

From a production space we’d like to thank our team who helped us tell this story. These shoots require us to come together in heart and mind, think about and approach production from a different space. Thank you.

The Bull Rider. An exploration in synthetic motion.
I’ve been working on this for a while now, I’ve updated shots as new video models have been released or gotten better. It’s far from perfect, but I wanted to get it out (so I could continue to work on and release other things I’ve been working on)
A big drive behind this piece is my fascination with the physics of movement in AI (and my obsession with J.B. Mauney) - when you put humans and animals in the same shot as they move very differently, and you’re really testing the ability of the model. Add to that the movement of a bucking bull, which move in such extraordinary and seemingly unpredictable ways. I’ve chosen the parts of the shots that worked for me, but as I said it’s not perfect, but it’s perfect for right now.
Thanks for watching.
