Ri Lindegren
dancing, yoga, embodied practices

Hi! I'm Ri Lindegren (pronounced ree lend-a-grin). I am a dancer, videographer, media artist, entrepreneur, and somatic practitioner.
Instagram was very insistent that I make this introductory post or it would not let me professionalize my account, which means I can't link it to other platforms that make my life easier. So this is for you IG, and all those still reading this.
I have danced since I was in utero, started "training" in tap, jazz, and ballet when I was 4, and quit the studio scene at the rebellious age of 11 after being told my body needed to change to keep dancing there. I've been recovering/finding new movement pathways forward ever since.
I have taken every kind of movement class I could twinkle my toes into, and I approach movement from a sense of curiosity, joy, deep listening, and respect. So if you were to look at my resume, there would be an absurdly long list of classes, dance genres, and teachers from House dance to Horton to Flamenco to gymnastics and many forms of yoga and meditation and a tiny drop of Bharatnatyam!
I know that being a professional dancer and dance teacher is complicated (and convoluted!) and there is no one pathway forward. There are so many ways to dance, be a dancer, and have dance be a fulfilling part of your life.
Right now I am focusing on somatic practices (its own multi-conversation series) and looking for ways to share moments of stillness and deep listening of our own embodied wisdom through practices of play, creativity, and community - ways we can dance our asses off, be silly, be inspired, and cultivate space for the full range of being human.
I just wrapped a project called @feelingsplayground and I'm exploring offering Sustenance Sundays sessions every other week. My work/love is @danceswithtechaz
In my free time I participate in indoor climbing, contact improv, enthusiastic dance, contemporary dance, and yoga/mindfulness classes. I will totally jam out and freestyle to House music and throw down a 6 step or a vogue dip, or find my body remembering moves from salsa or West African dance teachers. I have deep knowledge and respect for many traditions coming out African, Latinx, and Asian diasporas.

A reminder when things feel chaotic you can make space for your nervous system to release and feel and ground. Here are some local reminders from the Phoenix ecosystem.
Sit or roll or shake it out in the grass. Dance it out in your living room or with friends. Walk a new pathway.
Hold your breath for a few counts and release.
Summer has arrived.

Hugs. Catching up. The exchange of collective energy. And...“How is your body doing today?”
At the Mitote Dance Intensive, I signed up to dance... but due to a minor injury, I had to shift how I showed up. I danced when I could, and when I couldn’t, I picked up my camera as a way to stay connected to the action of the space.
The gift of witnessing. Of being a part of cultural dance exchange from Mexico to AZ.

Huge thank you to Zarina Mendoza @zarinasflow for your continual generosity. Truly. (If you’re local, go take her Wednesday night class.)
And deep gratitude to @marlene.ctz and @angel.arambula.73 for offering new neural pathways for our bodies and philosophical nuggets for our minds. The rigor. The nuance. The power.
Grateful to be in rooms like this.

A reminder to find the sacred pause, whenever you need it.
Sending a little love from nature, back out to you.
I love movement of all kinds, and some days or weeks or months or seasons of love I need different kinds of movement that nourishes or challenges my body in different ways.
A shame free reminder that it's ok to take breaks. It's ok to start again. It's ok to stop or quit if you need to.
This is me climbing on after a 2 month break. And other times I've taken a 6 month break. Sometimes I climb every week or more. It's the same with dancing (although I think daily dance breaks around the house count too).
Embodied practices come in all forms and shapes.
Do what feels right for you!

Hi movers! Sustenance sessions are on pause in-person as the heat index climbs in AZ and I need time to recalibrate and find an indoor location and to digest the beautiful work that has been happening :).
If you want to join a session on zoom in the meantime send me a DM!
Touch some earth, breathe in the sky, and do something that helps remind you of your own resilience this week.

Performance alert! I will be performing in a show with Greybox this Saturday
April 5th at 7:30pm
at the Mesa Arts Center!
I'd love to see you there!
'Positive Ruminations: An Evening of New(ish) Work'
Encore Performance!
"Positive Ruminations" will feature four new(ish) multidisciplinary performances that address the following topics: mental health, climate change's impact on the bodymind, transformative grief, busy culture, and empathy and compassion fatigue.
The “new(ish)” refers to the iterative nature of how we develop performances and how we are returning to pieces in development that were set aside during COVID.
With the overarching title being “Positive Ruminations” each new work will not only address the stark reality of these topics but also offer ways to engage in responsible action, cognitive re-structuring, and reframing to encourage audiences and artists to stay connected to how these topics directly impact our humanity.
Go to
@greyboxcollective for tickets!!!
