Congrats to Alex for showing up to the start line of her first ultra and finishing as the 3rd female, in a time of 5:27 🔥
The Wildhorse Traverse 50K is one of the more competitive 50Ks in the Okanagan with ~1700m of climbing and over 200 runners on the start line.
Alex came to me in November with a goal of running sub 5:30, despite not being able to run longer than 1 minute due to injury. Through collaboration with @movemedphysio and @kaz.kick, we built her back to continuous running by January.
From there, it was 4 months of consistency. No missed sessions. Training built around a busy life with two kids.
Over 23 weeks:
• 32,614m of climbing (that’s Everest 3.5x) ⛰️
• 885km on trails (roughly Vancouver to Banff) 🗺️
Alex is proof of what consistent, specific training can do.
Her love for the trails and willingness to push herself made this journey incredibly rewarding to be part of and I’m grateful I got to coach her through it ☺️
