I have been spending time looking at trees and reflecting on my relationship with city trees. This ongoing interest has led me to a symposium by the Master Industrial Design programme at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. On April 2, I will be in conversation with Martina van der Vegt from the Municipality of The Hague, who works on urban greenery policy and tree management. Together, we will share interesting facts and stories about the trees in The Hague.
Three conversations. Three perspectives on what matter can be, do and become.

(Re)Shaping Matters: A mini-symposium by Master Industrial Design
Royal Academy of Art, The Hague
@royalacademyofart.thehague
Matter is never neutral. What we choose to work with – the body, the scent, the pigment, the wood, the soil, the seed, the story – shapes not only the objects we make, but the questions we are able to ask. Matter shapes what matters to us.
(Re)Shaping matters is a symposium about the conversation between hands and world, between what we make and what makes us.
In the afternoon of 2 April, Master Industrial Design opens its research to the public – to listen, to touch, to smell, to try – to talk with designers, makers, thinkers, and the experts from various fields in a shared afternoon of talks, small workshops and conversation at Kunstbar.
Date: Thursday, April 2nd, 2026
Location: Kunstbar, Noordeinde 152A, 2514 GR Den Haag
Time: 16:30 - 17:00 Walk in
17:00 - 20:00 Symposium
20:00 - 21:30 Drinks/walk out
We hope to see you there!

Today marks the start of @maisonetobjet.hongkong! Incredibly excited to be part of the exhibition, as curated by @livvaisberg and @cleliedebehault (@collectiblefair) and with excellent scenography by @herodesign.group.
One of the tree pieces that Spazio Viruly will have on show is the Radiant ABS Floor Lamp by @moshpitty. I have had my eye on this lamp since a long time and I’m happy we found a way to have it travel from Korea for this special occasion.

Hun Lee (KR/NL)
Poom is a ceramic cup and saucer set that functions as a pair through mutual support. The cup cannot stand on its own and finds balance only when held by the base. The title Poom comes from the Korean word “Poom”, meaning to embrace, and “Poomasi”, a tradition of helping one another. The set expresses the idea of balance and quiet support through a simple form.
