for Venice Biennale Portraits

The curator takes place in the bedroom of #PalazzoMolinQuerini, one of the spaces hosting ”KUNSTHAUS PARADISO. Abitare Venezia“. Seated in kimonos on the large bed that cuts across the domestic landscape of the exhibition, surrounded by works by Giorgio Andreotta Calò and by the 53 artists participating in the project, the conversation unfolds around memory, artistic communities, and the practice of inhabiting Venice.

Se fossi candidata Sindaca di Venezia, tra i punti principali del mio programma metterei il dvieto di pizza da asporto.
Una provocazione, sì, ma fino a un certo punto.
Quesro genere di commercio produce pic-nic sui monumenti,  rifiuti abbandonati, aggessioni di gabbiani.. Ed è un cliché dozzinale dell'Italia. Uno dei tanti che vengono propinati alle orde di piu o meno sprovveduti turisti (insieme al limoncello, al David.di Michelangelo stampato su grembiuli da.cucina, alle piramidi di cannoli siciliani, a  O sole mio cantato dai gondolieri...un.elenco.desolatamente infinito che taglio qui) e che stanno seppellendo sotto.una coltre di pattume reale e simbolico l'unicità cosmopolita di Venezia.
Arte, cibi, dialetto,  la memoria.delle.pietre e il rumore dell'acqua nelle calli risparmiate dall'overtourism, l'eternita' e la caducitá. Tutte cose che troppi  dei 30 milioni di turisti che invadono la città non conosceranno mai perche qui cercano e trovano la.pizza.

If I were running for Mayor of Venice, one of the key points in my platform would be a ban on takeaway pizza.
A provocation, yes, but only up to a point.
This kind of trade creates picnics on monuments, abandoned trash, seagull attacks… And it’s a cheap cliché of Italy. One of many fed to the hordes of more-or-less clueless tourists (along with limoncello, Michelangelo’s David printed on kitchen aprons, pyramids f Sicilian cannoli, O Sole Mio sung by gondoliers… a dismally endless list that I’ll cut short here) and that are burying Venice’s cosmopolitan uniqueness under a blanket of real and symbolic garbage.
Art, food, dialect, the memory of stones and the sound of water in the "calli" spared by overtourism, eternity and transience. All things that too many of the 30 million tourists who invade the city every year will never know, because here they look for and find pizza.
