Mirabel Wigon will be visiting in a few weeks and is a California artist and educator. Wigon’s work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions both regionally and nationally.

Wigon's work is a stage for mythopoesis, with non-human actants at the center. Flowering plants in her work represent absolute otherness and inspire speculative activity. Drawing from a range of mediated source materials, such as photogrammetry scans of botanical specimens, her work (de)constructs plant forms to reflect on the intermingling and entangled relationships in the natural world.

Shifting forms emerge in a visual disarray, where terrestrial cycles mirror cosmic revolutions. This fractured space acts as compost. The plant forms arise from disorder, demonstrating the possibilities of messy entanglement and promises for collaboration.

Wigon's reflections on mediation and processes of translation are acts of “becoming with.” A speculative world-building in which blooming flowers take center stage. Learning from our planetary cohabitants, she calls for a future that values diversity, adaptation, and perseverance.

We will be having a quieter year this year -- hosting fewer artists, with bigger gaps between visits -- but plan to be at our first open house/potluck of the season on **UPDATED** Friday, April 10.
