Today our little Mac Stanley is 1️⃣. Everyone always says the time goes by so fast and it’s true. Reflecting back just one year ago: we went to our 34 week check up, and they sent us right to the trauma unit, 10 minutes later they told us we’d be delivering our baby via emergency c-section in 10 minutes. We had no control, we had to just find peace in the panic and pray for a healthy baby and mommy. We didn’t even know if you were a boy or a girl. There aren’t many surprises in life and we figured this would be a special one. They asked us what music we wanted to play in the delivery room, we said Mac Miller. And then came baby Mac. A sweet baby boy 6 weeks early to the party and just 4 tiny pounds. You spent 58 days in the NICU. Everyday we came to see you, recovering mommy from surgery and daddy everyday for many hours. Gazing upon you and falling in love with you. One year later life is different as parents, it’s sweeter, it’s more chaotic, and it’s the best job we have, being your mom and your dad. My arrival was quite a whirlwind but that’s parenthood, they say, and I was just giving Mom and Dad an early taste of a little baby spontaneity I suppose. Weill Cornell has taken excellent care of us and we’re so grateful for all the nurses and staff over there. PS: Somehow I’m in the 90th percentile of height despite mom and dad’s genes, ha! Surprise, surprise, I’m already a huge Mac Miller and Fleetwood Mac fan, lots of jamming in the cozy womb.
