Born in Berlin in 1969, Michael Graessner has been working as a stage and costume designer since the 1990s with numerous directors at renowned theatres, including the Volksbühne Berlin, Münchner Kammerspiele, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Maxim Gorki Theater and Deutsches Theater Berlin. In his artistic practice, Michael Graessner often moves at the interface between theatre and social intervention. His spatial concepts are always conceived as playful arrangements with a strong call to action – performative inventions that are equally at home in museums, church spaces and theatres.

In recent years, he has also been active as a performer – among other things in projects by the @farn.collective and in the performance collective @matthaeiundkonsorten . This has resulted in film works and installations in public spaces and on stage.
