Let’s talk about impact! Our seniors class at @miamiparks really shifts the way our participants think about cultural foods and longevity. Each class we provide them with practical tips to live healthier. We also teach them a new recipe, that’s familiar but adds a new healthy element.

We have worked with them to establish trust and understanding, tailoring every session to their unique needs. We hear feedback every week about the changes in their blood values, mindset and their health!

Now open The Verneka Sturrup Silva Aquatic Facility at Elizabeth Virrick Park is ready for the community 💧
This state of the art aquatic center features a 7 foot 10 inch deep pool, zero depth entry with ADA accessibility, lap lanes, slides, and spaces for swim lessons water aerobics family fun and serious swimmers alike.

The kickoff of Haitian Heritage Month took place at Little Haiti Cultural Complex, bringing the community together for a vibrant celebration.

Guests enjoyed complimentary food, live music by DJ Jacques, skating, face painting, bounce houses, and more. A true family friendly event honoring 222 years of Haitian history and impact, with many free activities for the community.

It marked the end of a long road of unfulfilled promises in the community by bringing together key stakeholders, the City of Miami administration, and outside experts. The pool as designed wasn’t meeting the needs of the community. Residents spoke up, advocates stayed constructive and engaged, corrective action was taken and we delivered what Coconut Grove deserves.

Thank you to the Virrick Park Pool Committee (Ruth and Kim and Vicky and Carl, etc.), Ms. Toni Simmons (representing the Silva Family) and so many community members who pushed for better, and also to the City team and outside consultants who helped us get the job done right. This pool is a perfect example of what constructive advocacy achieves. We all align for a better Miami.
