Beginning doesn’t always come with clarity, sometimes it arrives as a direction you don’t fully understand yet.
With “The Fool”, the idea was there, but the structure wasn’t. Instead of forcing it into shape, I let it open up through collaboration, letting other perspectives shift it before it settled.

One last throwback and a spotlight on the art direction and concept behind our very first edition of The Shapeshifting Play at La Galería by Lastcrit!
We commissioned artist and designer @_m_as_h__ma_ke_s to create a series of four masks, featured as part of the stage design, bringing the atmosphere of a theatrical set to life.
Dive into her reflections on the making process and the ideas behind her personal practice.

For the @corooted exhibition Proof of Existence I made a short animation titled Kini. It's inspired by animal imagery in Sakha fairytales and Olonkho and the way these images represent gender.
Kini references images of animals like cranes, bulls, and horses, which in Sakha folklore often symbolise femininity and masculinity. The short animation is a look into these gendered symbols and connotations, attempting to subvert and merge them together.
Thanks to my dear friend Masha @_m_as_h__ma_ke_s for making this amazing poster.
You can visit Proof of Existence @laleatoire until November 2nd, 1-8pm.

‘All Together Now: What Do You Say and How Do You Say It?’
2025
My graduation project “All Together Now: What Do You Say and How Do You Say It?” is a publication and installation about “non-proper” speech and the use of experimental writing in literature.
The publication is a collection of texts which use experimental writing techniques. The works included are “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes, “Água Viva” by Clarice Lespector, “Clockwork Orange” by Anthony Burgess, and “Purple America” by Rick Moody. Each text has been read out loud and re-transcribed using a modified version of Conversation Analysis, a system used in psychology to study human behaviour and communication, by analysing pauses, breaths, intonation, etc… Each text has two or more layers - the transparent layers show the transcribed text, and the white layer underneath shows the original text, so the two can be compared.
The installation echoes the publication. It consists of a paper base and stamps which the audience can use to interact with the work. The paper contains questions about speech such as - “How does your voice sound like when you speak?” and “What do you struggle to say?”, and the audience is invited to use the stamps (which are made with the modified Conversational Analysis system) to share their own opinions on speech.
Thank you to everyone to participated in the publication and installation, and thank you for everyone who supported me through this process! <3
Thank you @123rla for the installation pictures 🙌

The class of 2025 @gdarnhem has graduated this past July in a WHIRLWIND of amazing projects and ideas.
This year’s thesis omnibus “WHIRLWIND” is a collection of essays, which span from topics such as fiber arts to speculative design, showing the vast interests of our class.
The term WHIRLDWIND has two definitions - "used with reference to a very energetic person or a tumultuous process” and "a column of air moving rapidly round and round in a cylindrical or funnel shape”. We thought that this term provided a strong metaphor for the difficult and gratifying process of graduating. The publication is divided into 5 chapters, each one named after a local wind from around the globe, each with a different direction and speed range - Ostro, Shamal, Khazri, Cyclone and Etesian. The publication starts with a slow wind, organized and calm. As the texts change chapters, the columns start to move, showing the turmoil that we discuss in this publication. The wind builds up through the first 3 chapters, peaks in the fourth - Cyclone, and diffuses in the last chapter. To emphasize more on the complexity of this WHIRLWIND, we used ASCII illustration to highlight the messiness and movement of the project.
The publication was riso printed, in two sizes - A3 and A4. This way were able to produce more copies and therefore we could share this class’ writing even more. Along with the printed version, we also made a digital archive (whirlwind.cargo.site)! It you didn’t manage to get a copy in person, we urge you to read our beautiful essays!
Thanks to (in no particular order):
- all the students who participated;
- Werkplaats Typografie @werkplaatstypografie, Anniek Brattinga and So-Yeon Kim for help with printing;
- Maaike van Neck for the beautiful introduction;
- Annie Goodner and Marijke Goeting for the guidance with thesis writing;
- Sandra Kassenaar for design guidance.

Due to funding cuts, Nieuw Dakota had to close in January 2025. Before closing their doors they decided to use their platform and space as much as they could, by organising a series of weekly exhibitions called “Making Waves”, as well as 3 Happenings, under the name “Gespannen Getijden” (Tense Tides). During my internship with Eva van Bemmelen, Eva and I worked together on this series of posters, and here are some of my favourites! - posts incoming :)

“Between the Body and the Mind” is a video and projection mapping project, which looks into kinesic communication. Although verbal speech is what draws our attention the most in daily communication, kinesic - or non-verbal communication gives our brain a lot of cues about those we are speaking to.
