Introducing @baabax101 one of the long time sounds behind Makaan Records.

@baabax101 has been part of Makaan Records since the very beginning, with all of our EPs and VAs mastered by him until now.

Beyond mastering and mixing, he has continuously supported unseen artists to grow, specially new producers in the scene. Throughout his journey, he has always shared knowledge, guidance, and care behind the scenes.

He has also been a highly respected producer for many years, from the underground parties of Iran to London.
An Iranian producer and DJ, Baabax is someone many of you probably already know by now.

@__jahanam___ , one of Makaan residents, will be playing her first Makaan set at @fold.ldn — Steam Room for Makaan 10.

Born in Tehran and based in Stockholm-Sweden , Jahanam has been reshaping fixed ideas of genre and how music should be played, moving freely between different sounds without committing herself to one direction.

Her sets move through techno, ballroom, latin club, and beyond… playful, sharp, emotional, and unpredictable all at once.

As Makaan continues growing between different cities, communities, and people connected through shared values and sound, having residents outside London has become an important part of our identity as well.

We’re genuinely very excited to finally have Jahanam playing her first Makaan setwith us.

Over the past four years, @makaan___ - مکان - has overcome border controls, visa restrictions and international sanctions to bring you the artists that move them. Through a combination of online sets and in-person performances, their adventure continues.

This June, Makaan - مکان - return to our Steam Room for an extended eleven hour event, with three of their residents together under one roof for the first time. @__jahanam___ makes the journey from Stockholm for her FOLD debut, joined by @taha.one1 and founder @anahitashamsaei, making the slightly shorter journey from East London.

Three years on from featuring on the collective’s debut VA, @baabax101 makes a guest appearance in the booth alongside a night-time debut for @mattia.fois94.

Makaan - مکان - begins at 23:00 on Saturday 20th June. General Release tickets are available via Resident Advisor and the link in their bio.

@taha.one1 , one of our residents, is an Algerian DJ and producer based in London.

His sound moves through hypnotic techno, distorted rhythms, and immersive atmospheres. We’re pretty sure by now most of you already know Taha through his music and sound.

For the past years, he has been part of the Makaan journey, continuously growing with the community and always bringing positive energy to the dancefloor.

Very happy to have him with us for Makaan 10 and super excited to hear his set.

Introducing our first guest artist for Makaan - مکان 10 @mattia.fois94

Mattia Fois is a DJ and producer from Sardinia, based in London since 2013. His work is rooted in a deep fascination with analog synthesis and modular systems.
His sound is driven by distorted drums, unconventional rhythms, and immersive atmospheres — raw, hypnotic, and unpredictable. Balancing tension and movement, his sets sit somewhere between precision and chaos.

We are very happy to have Mattia for Makaan 10and super excited to hear his set. After hearing him at one of our Artists Without Borders episodes, we thought: okay, this is it.

Few months ago we decided to postpone Makaan 10. Out of respect for what was happening in the region, it felt right to step back and stay quiet for a moment.

It wasn’t easy, but it made sense at the time.

Now we move forward, and we come back because, more than ever, it feels important to gather.To be around each other, to support one another, and to move.

For us, coming together is about releasing, recharging, and moving forward through sound.

We’re coming to Brussels with some of our residents. Makaan exists as a platform for artists who remain unseen and unheard; shaped by borders, restrictions, and everything in between.

Why Brussels?

Brussels feels like an important place for this. A city shaped by movement, migration, and different histories where many voices are still unheard due to ongoing restrictions. It’s about being present. About showing that we exist, and creating a space for others to find us, share their sound, and connect.

Residents:

@anahitashamsaei : Born in Sheffield, grew up in Iran Founder of Makaan Records, for Anahita techno is rooted in identity, resistance, and connection.

@aramdien : Iranian-born, self-taught artist guided by the belief that music is a universal language beyond borders.

@taha.one1 : Algerian-born artist blending North African and Saharan textures with hypnotic techno.

@_sbbsxx_ : French-born, London-based artist with Moroccan and Algerian roots, crafting hypnotic, bass-driven sets shaped by rhythm and belonging.
