February had me a little MIA over here… but for good reason. 🎬✂️

As a costume designer, a lot of what we create can’t be shared until projects officially air, and the better part of February was spent deep in prep, building wardrobes, and then shooting across multiple locations in Florida for a large commercial campaign tied to Carshield and professional baseball. ⚾️
Long days, custom building, David @davidprowell being my stand-in for two weeks, problem-solving on the fly, every jersey, hat, cleat, and stitch of wardrobe, …the kind of creative chaos that reminds me why I still love this industry after all these years.
One of my favorite parts of location work is getting to collaborate with entirely new crews and creative teams, but most of all, I love getting to design and create from start to finish watching an idea become something real on screen. Crazy part, is since February I have done four others, different concepts, different talent, different locations.
Now that spots are starting to air, I can finally share little glimpses from the journey.

I’m very serious about pajamas. 💗

I’ve been a devoted two-piece set girly for nearly 50 years, something I absolutely got from my paternal grandmother, who wore her pajama sets and slippers morning and night. She always looked so put together, even first thing in the morning, and that stuck with me.

Now, fully in my menopausal era… let’s just say the nighttime sweat tsunami🌊 is real. So what my pajamas are made of? It matters. A lot.

This set is made with a beautiful fabric from @minervadotcom by @keechiibstyle and while I love the print and colors, it’s the fiber content that truly wins for me. Breathability, comfort, and how it works with my body temperature through the night,it’s everything.

Also, pro tip from someone in the trenches: scrunchie your hair up on top of your head before bed. As a curly girl, night sweats will give you a whole new hairstyle by morning if you don’t 😅

And yes… a little wrinkled here because I literally rolled out of bed to take these photos. Real life. The neon pink piping is from @lws_trims

Slippers are my new favorite from @sewroritywear picked them up at retreat and I’ve been living in them ever since.🥰

Comfort, function, and feeling put together, even in the middle of the night. That’s the goal.

I don’t say this lightly… I live in these.
My Barrel Jeans are my daily uniform -I’m on pair seven (one for every day of the week). The fit just works.
So I bundled them with the Modern Fit Barn Jacket as part of my LWS x Sewn Adaptive pattern collection both patterns include regular + adaptive versions, all views, all sizes.
If you’ve been curious about sewing adaptive or just want really great-fitting patterns… this bundle is it.

Always be a CIARA.

Being an ally isn’t just about when it’s convenient or comfortable,
the same goes for being a real friend.
Watching someone stand ten toes down in their values, even when it’s messy, public, or uncomfortable… that matters. There’s something to be said for being a grown adult and still choosing loyalty, honesty, and integrity, especially when it would be easier not to.
That’s what this is about.
This piece is part of something new coming next month,
but the message is right now.
To the tribe in the sewing community who show up, support, uplift, and stay consistent, this is what it looks like. I appreciate your allyship and your support of @sewnadaptive
There are a dozen more I could’ve tagged here
who are your CIARAs? Tag them below.

This month’s feature on Sew Your View is the Cropped Cardigan by LWS + Sewn Adaptive ✨

This pattern has quietly become a staple for me, I’m on my sixth one. It’s truly the perfect layering piece and one I reach for constantly. For wovens or knits. This one is a silk chiffon remnant from a purchase I did years ago from @fabricmart

It’s also been my go-to for finally using up my WIP Fabrics and by that I mean those beautiful fabric remnants, I’ve been holding onto, thinking “I’ll make something with this someday.” Well, this is that something.
If you’re newer to sewing, I really believe success builds confidence, and this is such a great beginner project to get that win. Clean, quick, wearable, and you’ll want more than one.

Pattern & trims available now through @lws_trims

I drafted this shirt with one goal:
to hold its shape whether you’re standing or seated.
Because most patterns don’t.🤷‍♀️
This is where adaptive thinking meets good design, for every body.
@lws_trims 👖 adaptive and regular pattern.
Would you be interested if I released this as a pattern?

💚💙💚 What if the garments you make could change someone’s daily life?

Not just how they look…
but how they move, dress, and exist in their body.

This is the work Lynn Brannelley is bringing to PatternCon.

Lynn is the founder of Sewn Adaptive @sewnadaptiveand @lws_lynnwardrobesews , and her entire mission is rooted in something our industry often overlooks…

Designing and fitting for bodies with real, lived needs.

Because here’s the truth:

Adaptive sewing isn’t a niche.
It’s a skillset that makes you a more thoughtful, capable, and impactful maker.

And it’s something any one of us may need to understand at some point in our lives.

In her classes, Lynn will guide you through:

✨ How to adapt garments for accessibility using real tailoring techniques
✨ How to design with disabilities in mind from the very beginning

Whether you sew for clients, costumes, or yourself…
this opens up a whole new level of awareness and possibility in your work.

It’s the kind of knowledge that sets you apart.

Not just as someone who can sew…
but as someone who truly understands how clothing serves the body.

There is still space in both of Lynn’s classes… and I would love to see them filled with people who are ready to learn something that actually matters.

PatternCon is happening August 1st & 2nd in Atlanta, Georgia, and tickets are already moving.

If you want to see the full lineup and grab your spot:

Spring, but make it bold 💜🌸✨
This version of the #AsiaHoboTop by @armena_sews in this vibrant Ankara from @zestyafricanfabrics feels like the perfect welcome to the season, fresh, saturated color and full of life. The purple and pink combo was intentional, tying into my @sewroritywear sisterhood while leaning all the way into those spring tones 💕

I added my own touch by shaping the sleeve into a lantern at the hem and inserting an invisible zipper in the side seam to make it more adaptable, because ease and access should always be part of the design conversation.
Paired with my LWSxSewn Adaptive Barrel Jeans @lwstrims to show just how much range one pattern can have same silhouette, completely different feel depending on fabric and styling.
Spring is such a good reminder that color, creativity, and community all get to show up together ✨
Take a look at @armenasews and @zestyafricanfabrics — both bringing so much beauty to this space.
