🧵 We have five rooms FILLED with fabric! In addition to high-quality, deadstock designer fabric, we carry interfacing, indie sewing patterns, sewing machine needles, elastic, Gutermann thread, and all the essentials for your garment sewing projects.

🕗 Our store hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM, with select Saturday openings announced periodically. (Our next one is Saturday, March 29, 9am-1pm!)

📵 Do you have a hard time putting your phone down? Kayla does. So during a vacation in the Outer Banks she brought along a hand sewing project! Instead of reaching for her phone during down time she reached for this instead. This is what she learned!
🪡 A simple project is going to be your best friend. Straight, simple seams. I was here to relax, so I wanted something I didn't have to think hard about while sewing. I used the Hansie Top from Seamwork. It's a great pattern that I've made before!
✂️ I cut my pieces out before the trip.
🧵 Thread, some tiny snips, a needle, and clips or pins. That's all you need! I kept everything together in a tote.
☀️ I sewed up this entire top using just three stitches. Backstitch for the hems and main seams, the blanket stitch for overcasting raw edges, and a fell stitch to tack down the neck facing. You can speed things up by using running stitches for the seams, but I liked the slow monotony of the back stitch and thought my they looked neater than my running stitches.
🌊 Something I wish I had brought was chalk or a fabric pen to mark my seams. It would have made sewing in a straight line easier with a guide to follow!
🏖️ My last piece of advice is to not stress about it! I didn't finish my shirt while I was away. And that is totally fine! Having something to work on was wonderful for those slow mornings while everyone was waking up, or the quiet downtime after dinner. Plus I definitely wasn't on my phone as much!
