True to yourself - or the opinions of others?

Remixed Life Experiences
Once you’ve made something, and made it accessible to the world you no longer control it.
The impression it’s going to have on others, the thoughts and feelings it creates in them, the meaning it has for them, is beyond your control.
It might take on a life of its own - and move others to make something of their own.
Something your thing will, in one way or another, be a part of.
Everything you make is a product of your own experiences and of who you are – “an outward representation of our inner lives” as I recently read. In a way we remix our experiences into something new, which is part of what makes it special for me.
It means no one else could have made the exact same thing. What you choose not to make might never exist.
At times I think about this when listening to music; for some reason it’s especially apparent there.
It sometimes feels like the difficulties and obstacles some artists had to overcome were necessary to make a specific piece of music possible. It could not have existed otherwise.
As if these events helped shape a way of seeing things, like a lens, through which the artist was able to see the final piece; or a way to get there.
True to the sentiment of this post, some of these thoughts were inspired by a conversation I had on this platform. If that’s you and you’re reading this, thank you for that conversation and the book recommendation.
Also: There’s new black & white and red (yes, color!) stickers - which might be seen as flat-out plagiarism.
Or you might think of them as remixed life experiences.
As always: keep it up guys and, if you want, make some things of your own

Thank you @fred_xs_streetart for taking these photos and @pasteupfestivalfrance for putting in the work to make this happen.
It’s nice to see those artworks and paste ups not in isolation but next to each other, forming a larger piece and complementing one another.
I’m also happy for Luces Design to be a part of this. And to be next to @nina_van_kidow and @zazoulgr and @xsamaelx_
Feel free to mention others whose pieces are in here too.

Added a little logo icon on the left plus thicker outline for this to be ready for sticker printing.
@the_hatchkingdom - get ready to receive some of those as well ;-)

Things that were true, but no longer are.
Some things can stop to be “true”, when we stop believing they are.
They were actually never true to begin with; our belief in them made them true - in our own fabricated world.
When this happens it can be a liberating and freeing feeling.
Liberating because we realize that we
don’t actually have to…
are not actually that person that always…
are not really not strong, not smart or not influential enough to…
Understanding our unconscious biases enables different choices, and different choices make for different lives.
You have a say in what happens and tomorrow doesn’t have to be like yesterday if you don’t want it to be.
And yeah, there’s new black and white stickers; well, somewhat new. A slightly edited version with different logo placement, thinner outline, etc.
Anyway, keep it up friends,
Luces

Battles are won or lost over the mind first
“So you notice your mind keeps wandering?
Yes.
That’s good.
It’s good that my mind keeps wandering?
No. It’s good that you notice that your mind keeps wandering.
But it happens, like, all the time.
That’s even better. It means you’re noticing a lot.”
-Robert Wright
When upsetting things happen it can feel natural to reject or resist what happened. Even when it has already happened and it cannot be changed any more.
We have a negative emotional reaction to the thing and in doing so strengthen its impact on us. We might even reduce our ability to deal with it in a productive way.
The need to judge, to see things as either good or bad, is deeply ingrained in us; if we don’t observe our reaction it happens automatically. Often there is no need to judge things right away; or at all.
There is the choice of just noticing without our emotions taking over.
I’m very happy and thankful this collaboration with the great @el_karma_de_budha came to be.
Happy for us to share some views and perspectives on how ancient philosophy can be useful in our lives today.
Thank you for everything Karma, this thing would not exist without you.
Keep it up friends, and if you want observe your reaction to whatever happens,

So, recently TAOS5 by @deelaruze came out and even though I haven’t seen it in person yet, I suspect it’s great - like TAOS4 was a year ago and still is today. If you’re interested in stickers I recommend you go check this thing out.
Street art and stickers are ephemeral things and it’s nice to have a more long-lasting document, like a book that’s still going to be around when the stuff in the streets is long gone. Also I can’t help but feel a sense of community when reading the book and flipping through its pages, maybe that’s an even greater accomplishment.
I’m happy TAOS exists and for Luces Design to be a part of it - Thank you very much @deelaruze, for making this special thing real!
I’m all for making things of your own and this certainly is one of those things.
Also huge thanks and appreciation for all of you, who contributed to the Luces Design chapter of the book - I shall forever be grateful for taking and sending me the pics and stickers, that make this what it is. This would not and could not be the same without you.

As always: keep it up everyone and maybe read a book (sticker-related or not) every once in a while.

It’s March again and paste up and sticker production is in full swing.
The designer designs, the printer prints, the cutter cuts.
The guy with the adhesive tape puts tape to paper and smaller pieces together to form larger ones.
The photographer takes photos to publish; the social media guy makes a post.
Except for the printer, all of those are me.
Despite its many problems technology has made many things much more accessible and therefore more democratic.
It’s given us amazing tools to build our own things and share them with others on a massive scale.
These sticker- and paste-up festivals listed below, are an opportunity to do so, not just on screen but out there - in a raw and real way.
In a wheatpaste-meets-paper-meets-concrete kind of way. A way that involves all senses.
If you have the chance, go and check these events out, follow their accounts, have a look at what they’re up to.
To everyone organizing, hosting, opening letters, pasting and making things happen: Thank you, know that you are appreciated and keep it up!
