What happens when inner worlds collide with outer reality? “Kneeding” explores the fluid boundary between mind and body through the continuous, pumping movement of three dancers. Spectators become intimate witnesses to this introspective journey where physicality meets psychology.

Louise Dahl and Thiago Granato guide a movement class of Kneeding: a physical practice devised by Jefta van Dinther for his performance Kneeding from 2010. The practice interweaves an anatomical perspective of the body—with a focus on the internal organs—with sensation, imagination, psychology, expression and emotion. By employing the activity of kneading as a motor of movement, the practice explores how we affect and condition our own body — the individual body being the centerfold, albeit in relation to others. Kneeding explores being inside and outside of the body at the same time.

Kneeding can also be seen during the retrospective at HAU Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin) on 22+23 November. Tickets available via HAU

✨ Together with Louise Dahl and an extraordinary ensemble of dancers, we’re performing Companion XL at Hallen, October 4–5, as part of Dans i Hall.

Companion XL is a 20-minute study reworking an earlier version for a larger ensemble. The piece explores how bodies attune to forces both hidden and immense—vibrations that shape perception, currents of thought and attention, and planetary or cosmic energies that ripple through human and more-than-human worlds.

The dancers navigate edges where self meets other, tracing how collective bodies can reshape space like shifting constellations. Audiences may sit or drift through the room, engaging with choreography as an inquiry into how relations are sensed, unsettled, and reimagined.
