This year we’re bringing 4 official Hustle Jam takeovers to the Muziekkoepel at Oosterpark, Amsterdam. Outdoor social dancing, music, community, and Sunday afternoons with all of you.

The Battle season has come with the lovely weather we have been having. More and more battles are popping up, and they are a big part of our current culture. We want to create space and intention surrounding how to participate within this battle culture.

Straight after the BLACK BOX project by @leandro_vanenburg we are gonna have a battle practice at Current Ground. For this practice we're joined by our coaches @freddiefreesh, @_wesgood, and @leandro_vanenburg to give everyone feedback in the hope of making these battles more enjoyable or more purposeful for those entering.

Have you ever wanted to DJ a battle (practice) or try hosting, or being a time keeper. Slide in our DM and we try it out. The intention is to have fun, gain some more experience, and put yourself out there.

What is the Blackbox Project?
The Blackbox Intensive is more than a workshop. It is an interactive House Dance experience rooted in identity, culture and community.
It moves from understanding the dance to understanding yourself within it.
These hours are more than learning steps. It is about recognizing who you are as a dancer and shaping your movement with intention.

The process is focused on awareness, intention and personal expression.
A space to connect, grow and shape your movement from within.

In this edition we will explore dance dynamics, revisit the difference between basics and foundation, and play with the elements of musicality to build a deeper relationship with exchanging rhythm and sound.

*About Hustle*
The Hustle, also known as "The Latin Hustle" and "New York Hustle," is a partner dance that originated in New York City during the height of the disco era in the 1970s. It started at home parties and underground clubs in the South Bronx among Puerto Rican youth. This workshop will by hosted by the amazing Ivana (@ivana.ivy.zakova) and Leandro (@leandro_vanenbrug).They will take you through the fundamentals of this dance. Don't worry, no prior experience required!

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who showed up, trusted the process, and contributed to the space. Definitely not a class, but a meaningful experience that honored the roots of this dance and also opening new paths for reflecting about the values and future of it.

I’ve learnt so much in 3 hours and i really liked how @leandro_vanenburg showed it for different angles, making it holistic and going beyond house, but human connection, body awareness and showing our roll as the people who make it stronger by expressing our identities in it.

We are looking forward for Black Box part 2
