Alright, here it is… I can’t believe I’m finally saying this, but MY DEAR BOY is out in the world and available to watch with @nowness ❤️‍🩹

Speaking from the heart ~ I just want to say thank you. I’m so, so, so terribly grateful for the path this film has forged and the lessons it has taught me. To the cast, crew, the domestic and international festival programmers, the NOWNESS team, and all the audiences who have responded with such warmth - thank you. This challenged me emotionally and technically, and forced me to grow patience. It took everything, but it gave everything too — allowing me to travel, connect with filmmakers I look up to, and embrace more people than I ever thought possible. This is an open love letter of gratitude, forgiveness, and memoriam. It serves as a personal premonition — a merging of my past and present in the journey of coming home. I hope it can be a little symbol to encourage everyone to get in touch with their heart space. Xx

“This project is a surreal exploration of growing pains, told through a fragmented game of “hide and go seek”. This was one of those special moments in time when you get to create with your friends. It reminded us all to stay in touch with our childlike sensibilities and to have fun. Filmmaking is an exploration of the human experience, and ultimately, it feels better to create from a space of joy. Shooting on 35mm film allowed us to preserve a nostalgic look and create the feeling of a snapshot suspended in time. Not only that, but the mechanics and constraints of the medium forces you to stay present and unify as a team for a more intentional outcome. Big love to this cast and crew” - Leaf Lieber, Director
